Former PKR Youth deputy chief Dr Afif Bahardin has been suspended from the party pending the outcome of a disciplinary probe against him.
In a Twitter posting last night, the Seberang Jaya assemblyperson claimed he only received the suspension letter on Friday.
However, according to the alleged suspension letter he posted, the decision for his suspension was reached by the party’s central leadership council on March 21.
Afif, a long-known ally of former PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, further quipped the move was “anticlimactic”.
“After much anticipation, I only received the ‘suspension without charge’ notice yesterday (Friday).
“Such an anti-climax,” he tweeted.
While Afif did not elaborate on his quip, he had previously told Malaysiakini that he was ”just waiting for the party's decision whether to sack me or not.”
PKR had launched a disciplinary probe into Afif after Azmin quit the party to join forces with Bersatu, Umno and PAS to form Perikatan Nasional.
The party has also previously suspended its Wanita chief Haniza Talha pending a similar disciplinary probe and slapped vice-president Tian Chua with a show-cause letter.
According to Haniza, she was suspended over an unspecified meeting with Azmin and then party vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin, who also defected to Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional.
Meanwhile, when contacted for further comments, Afif questioned the fairness of the suspension slapped against him.
"Do you think it's a fair process?" he asked.
Afif, however, declined to answer if he would be appealing against the suspension or leave PKR, adding that he is now focused on delivering his service to the people.
"With the situation under the movement control order now, Alhamdulillah, I have more time to focus on servicing my area. People are in dire need of help," he said.
Azmin’s actions, dubbed the ‘Sheraton Move’, was among those which ultimately led to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government.
Malaysiakini is also contacting PKR for further information.
