Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Anwar Ibrahim opened the new PKR Padungan service centre in Kuching yesterday and declared that it will service all Sarawakians.

The centre will be manned by the party's newly elected Padungan assemblyperson Dominique Ng.

Speaking at the ceremony, Anwar described the party's victory in Padungan in the recent state elections as a 'good beginning' for the party as it has created an impact on the political scene.

Ng, a lawyer, won the seat in a straight fight against the BN-Supp's incumbent Lily Yong by a majority of about 1,500 votes in the predominantly-Chinese constituency.

Anwar said Ng's victory proved that PKR is a multi-racial party and that the service centre will service all Sarawakians, irrespective of race, culture and creed.

"The service centre will be of service to those who supported us as well those who did not support us," he said, pointing out this is the difference between PKR and Barisan Nasional who only serviced those who voted for them.

Serve the people

Congratulating Ng for his victory, Anwar said Ng was determined and capable and had impressed him as a leader who would be dedicated to serve the people.

He also congratulated the six successful DAP candidates and the Snap candidate from the opposition in the recent state elections.

Also present at the opening ceremony were state PKR advisor Hafsah Harun, Snap deputy president Justine Jinggut and secretary-general Stanley Jugol and MDC pro tem president Nicholas Bawin.
