After ditching MISC, Noh Omar set to be appointed as PUNB chair

An aide to Noh (above) confirmed the nomination but said there is still a process to finalise the appointment.

"We will only know next week," the aide told Malaysiakini.
Earlier today, Focus Malaysia reported Noh Omar had been nominated for the position, replacing Hazimah Zainuddin, an entrepreneur appointed by the previous Pakatan Harapan government in Sept 2018.
Prior to Hazimah's appointment, the position was held by Umno's Mohd Ali Rustam.
On June 18, Noh stepped down as the MISC Bhd chairperson, just two weeks after he was appointed.
The Umno lawmaker had said the position at MISC, a shipping company, was only suitable for a corporate leader or political retiree.
"When I am appointed to a position, I need to look at the contribution and service that can be provided to the people as well as serving the government's policy.
"As far as being MISC chairperson, even though the allowance is almost RM30,000, that is not the goal. Because as an MP, I need to think of the contributions which can be provided not just to the people of Tanjung Karang but the whole country," he said in an interview with Sinar Harian.
Following his resignation, Selangor BN had called on Perikatan Nasional to give Noh Omar another suitable appointment.
