On MP: Why is 'about to die' Karpal here?

Pity His Parents: It is people like Bung Moktar that brings shame and humiliation to us Malaysians by making those remarks about Karpal Singh. He must remember that he is a lawmaker and a supposedly leader of his community. To pass such remarks about another colleague, who was injured in an accident through no fault of his own, really stumps me as to his mentality.

Such comments do not help in any civilised debates (what more in a distinguished forum as the Parliament) but would certainly help us know the character and personality of this guy. I pity his parents for having brought him up to this world.

Don'tPlayGod: I was most shocked at the behaviour and manner in which this guy (Bung) can speak. I don't think even a drain sweeper or rubbish collector will talk like that! How is it that the BN can allow such guys as candidates for their parties? And why is it the speakers allow such behaviour in Parliament? Oh, I forgot, the speakers are from BN parties.

But if an opposition MP were to speak in a similar manner, the speakers will not hesitate to suspend them for six months without pay!

Aren't there better candidates, aside from MPs like Bung Mokhtar, Badruddin Amirruddin, Noh Omar, the Jasin MP, and even Kayveas from the BN parties? I can only conclude that there just aren't enough quality candidates from the BN component parties. How can we trust such parliamentarians to govern our fair country?

CF: All Malaysians should be make aware of the actions and speech of their MPs. Any remarks made by the the YBs, be it sexist, racial or intolerance, should be highlighted and disseminated via Internet, SMS, to the public, especially to their constituencies.

Come the next election, posters and leaflets about their insensitive remarks should be posted in their constituencies, be they from the ruling or opposition parties. Let the rakyat chose a more intelligent YB. This will also deter the parties from nominating YBs who are liabilities to their parties.

Unite all Malaysians, we have enough of these YBs who won a place in Parliament because of their party ticket, not because of themselves.

This is what Nazri said when he attacked Mahathir for criticising the government: "I am the wakil rakyat that represents the people, I am still a minister, what about him?" he asked.

Seriously, is Nazri saying that nobody has the right to criticise the government? Only ministers are allowed to criticise the government? I, the rakyat, has no right to criticise? Tun Mahathir is our former PM, he has every right to voice his criticism. This is what democracy is all about. You don't go and sack someone from Umno just because he voices out comments about the government. Nazri should be the one who leave Umno because he brings bad name to Umno and Malaysia.

And why is Pak Lah keeping all quiet? The coming next election, I'll know who to vote for.

Truly Malaysian: He (Mahathir) gets better with age. This elderly statesman has again proven his mettle and intelligence. He got the whole of Umno squabbling to achieve his goals (whatever his agenda is?).

This man is way ahead of the current of crop of Umno leaders or most people in Malaysia. In 1998, Anwar Ibrahim being the DPM and as powerful as he was during that period, was charged with sodomy (which of course was overturned) amongst other charges. Ever wondered why?. This is our ex-premier, he knows exactly what turns the masses on.

He has no official power and position now but commands an even greater audience because of the importance given to it. So learn from the old man, the less official power and position one uses, the greater the result will be. I just hope whatever Mahathir's agenda is, it would benefit the country as a whole.

FJ Havelock: All I can say is that man (Mahathir) has gone "nuts" and should be completely ignored. I admire our PM for remaining cool and this is all the more annoying to Dr M. There is no use arguing with a man who now feels he is being ignored by the world. He is suffering from a severe mental disorder an inferiority complex. I admire you, Pak Lah, for your wise decision. Dhammika: The PM must immediately play the rightful role to come out and start talking. By keeping quiet and leaving everything to subordinates to talk is not acceptable. The issues are adding up - including that involving his son-in-law - and they are all boiling over.

The economy is more sluggish each new day and foreign investors are cautious to invest here due to the many unresolved corruption cases with new ones propping up. What has happened to the administration? Why is the PM not doing anything to stop all these issues?

The PM must also reply to Tun's questions. If he allows all the ministries to answer the different questions, it would appear that he is not accountable.

On Dr M's ex-aide: PM must explain KJ's millions

Peter: It is a wonder that our leaders are not sensitive to slanderous remarks made openly at press conferences. I remember quite some time ago, Datuk Soh Chee Wen called for a press conference and categorically called Ling Liong Sik a liar. It was only reported in full in malaysiakini .

Now Matthias Chang is implying some forms of corruption and abuse of power by KJ and Pak Lah. Yet it does not cause any uproar on the part of Pak Lah and KJ. In fact, this is not the first time Matthias has issued the challenged. Accusing a layman of corruption is already very serious and what more our national leader.

These may be the few allegations against our ministers. There may be more which goes unreported. But what amazed me most is that these ministers can keep quiet. Should these accusations be made against any ministers of our southern-tip neighbour, he or she would be sued upside down. Or if the minister dared not sue the accuser, their PM would have the said minister removed!

On Lina Joy: Retrospective argument disputed

MSY: You can call a person whatever you like; Hindu, Muslim, Christian, and put laws in place to ensure he or she follows a certain religion, but in the end, it's the individuals' heart that matters. One can stop Lina Joy from leaving her religion but whatever her heart desires, she will practice and worship. Not changing her identity card just makes life difficult for her.

Lee: The Matrade scandal is the tip of the iceberg of even more scandals to emerge if the PM can repeal the OSA and send the Whistleblowers Act through Parliament. PM, please do it now or it will be too late.

About the Matrade scandal, I would say that the state government is responsible. All officers involved should be investigated, suspended and charged in court. Moreover, this is the only opportunity for the honest and hard working officers to be promoted. The MB must be investigated first.
