Scarlet Pimple: Well, I continue to be amazed by Dr Mahathir's gall for telling the PM not to hide behind the OSA. Hell, the previous administration enacted the OSA to hide behind it. But I do support declassifying the documents but not only the Singapore bridge case. Declassify all the others as well. The Time Engineering bailout, the banks mergers, the Anwar case, the highway tolls cases, the IPPs, the list goes on.

HL Too: The controversy and confusion over the information minister's plan to mend the strained ties between the PM and Dr M. is another example of the lack of leadership in the present government. Whatever his faults (and there are many), Dr M would not have tolerated his cabinet ministers, (let alone civil servants) issuing contradicting (and sometimes defiant) statements. Pak Lah's cabinet seems to lack any coherent leadership.

Meanwhile, the PM continues to maintain his "nice guy image" by keeping silent. His supporters try to put a positive spin on his indecisiveness by saying that the PM has a different style of leadership and that he is encouraging people to express their opinions in a spirit of openness. Let us not confuse the lack of strong leadership with a desire to be more open.

First, you have the information minister saying he has the PM's blessing to seek mediation over his squabble with Dr M. Then, you have the deputy PM demanding an explanation from the information minister. If the PM has given the go-ahead to the information minister, didn't he inform his deputy about it?

Now you have the Kedah mentri besar saying third-party mediation is unnecessary while another cabinet minister (Muhyiddin Yassin) thinks it's a good idea for Khalil Yaakob, a former minister under Mahathir, to serve as a mediator. Finally, you have the information minister denying that Khalil is the mediator. Talk about confusion!

I think the PM cannot afford the luxury of maintaining his so-called nice guy image. Pak Lah, you have a country to run. In order to make it run right, you have to kick asses sometimes. I think it is about time you start doing so before things really get out of control.

Petronas is not the deep pockets just for the PM but for all Malaysians, and Parliament should have a say on how its profits are used.

For the PM, the most important task now and it has been long overdue is the setting up of the IPCMC. Without this basic and necessary machinery, all efforts to curb corruption and abuse of powers will come to naught.

Sadirah K: To have taken it out on the dogs because the owner refused to abide by the requirements is not only poor logic but cruel. There could have been many ways the issue could have been handled. Dog handlers could have been sent to his home to confiscate these dogs. These could then have been handed over to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He could have been fined and necessary action taken.

The poor dogs have had to pay a price for the stupidity of our officials. Those marksmen who shot the dogs will eventually pay the price for what goes around will also come around. We are supposed to become truly developed by 2020 but with such acts we only highlight the long distance that we have yet to travel to even become humane.
