MACC summons Guan Eng over undersea tunnel probe
MACC has summoned former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng to its headquarters in Putrajaya this afternoon.
Deputy chief commissioner (operations) Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya said the DAP secretary-general would have his statement recorded over the Penang undersea tunnel project.

“He is coming in as a witness over the undersea tunnel project. He will come at 1 pm,” he told Malaysiakini.
Previously, in early July, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki had said the investigation papers on the contentious RM6.3 billion Penang undersea tunnel project was in the final stage of completion.
He said it was expected to be completed within two to three weeks and would be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.
The MACC had interviewed a number of Penang government officials including Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow as well as state executive councillors in relation to the probe
Seberang Jaya assemblyperson Afif Bahardin was also called in by the MACC in his capacity as a state executive councillor from 2013 to 2020.
Former Penang Port Commission chairperson Jeffrey Chew was also remanded for four days beginning July 1 to facilitate investigation into the case and has since been released on bail.
At the time the project – meant to connect Penang island to the mainland – was being planned in 2011 and 2012, Chew was a special officer to then chief minister Lim.
It was reported last year that six investigation papers were opened for the case, with the first paper opened in July 2017 and the remaining five in Jan 2018.
