Malacca PAS hopes it will be allocated at least one parliamentary seat in the next elections.
Its leader Kamaruddin Sidek said the party was eyeing Hang Tuah Jaya, Jasin and Tangga Batu.
"What's for certain is, it is not Alor Gajah. It is deemed to be less (winnable) compared to the (three others)," he said, according to Utusan Malaysia.
In 2018, PAS fielded candidates for the abovementioned seats along with Masjid Tanah. The party fared poorly in all five contests, while their opponents BN and Pakatan Harapan were the only real competitors.
PAS has never won a parliamentary seat in the state before.
Kamaruddin said PAS' preference for Hang Tuah Jaya, Jasin and Tangga Batu was based on local membership numbers and activities in those areas.
Although Malacca PAS had an opinion on where they should be fielded, Kamaruddin said the ultimate decision lies with the national leadership.
He said Malacca PAS has identified "heavyweight" candidates with a professional background for the consideration of the party's top brass.
"This is because they will be scrutinised by the national leadership and if they win, they might be chosen for cabinet," he added.
Meanwhile, Kamaruddin confirmed that seat negotiations were only centred on parliamentary seats for now.
