Director of Bukit Aman’s Internal Security and Public Order Department, Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, has been appointed acting deputy inspector-general of police (IGP), effective today.
IGP Abdul Hamid Bador confirmed that Acryl Sani takes over from Mazlan Mansor who goes on mandatory retirement starting tomorrow.
The handing-over of duties for the second-highest post in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) was held at the Dewan Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, PDRM College in Cheras. The event was also witnessed by Abdul Hamid.
Acryl Sani has wide experience in policing and has held the post of director of several departments in Bukit Aman, including the Commercial Crime Investigation Department, the Strategic Resources and Technology Department (StaRT) as well as the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department.
He was also known for his good service experience and successes in the Department of Internal Security and Public Order.
Meanwhile, Abdul Hamid clarified that Acryl Sani was appointed to the acting post while waiting for Istana Negara to issue the official letter appointing him as the deputy IGP.
“There is a slight technical glitch. Istana Negara has not yet released the consent from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for Acryl Sani’s appointment as the deputy.
“So we are waiting for consent. That is why Acryl Sani was appointed to the acting post,” he said.
Abdul Hamid said only the two top posts in PDRM needed the agreement and consent of the Agong, namely that of IGP and deputy IGP.
