Sodomy allegations: Cops probe SD against opposition politician

Anonymous Observer: There shouldn’t be so much prominence given to such sensational garbage. Do the authorities really need to give their utmost priority to “sodomy cases involving the opposition politician”?

Such lewd and sickening charges have been used to ruin an individual ever since that person went against the powers-that-be. The police are professional enough, in my opinion, to put a stop to such nonsensical crap like making statutory declarations (SDs) long after the alleged act. The authorities should investigate thoroughly to prevent such frivolous attempts in the future.

The public is frustrated and fed up with what's going on, especially during this period of uncertainty and extreme hardship due to the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic.

I hope the police will focus more on pressing issues affecting society such as corruption, domestic crimes, security for the rakyat and so forth. I hope that Malaysians can look forward to a more reformed and democratic nation. Let's pray for a better future.

Mohd Bakri 3: Seven years ago, and suddenly the complainant makes a statutory declaration. Seven years ago, and now you feel depressed. Seven years ago, and now you claim you accepted money for sex, thus making you a sex worker and that you introduced friends for paid sex, thus making you a pimp.

Will there be action taken against you since you admitted to all these?

MS: So in Season 3 of ‘Sod & Me’, the "trailer", as reported here, tells the tale of a pimp cum sex worker and a politician. The alliteration, while unintended, unfortunately has echoes with that of a political party which is not known for trysts of this variety.

And judging by the avalanche of comments since this morning when the "trailer" first aired, we may reasonably conclude that it has captured, once again, the waning attention of Malaysians who have grown up tired with lurid tales of soiled mattresses, ambitious police officers, nervous drivers, missing doctors and vindictive lawyers.

But is this what the country needs at this juncture as the economy shrinks, unemployment surges, debts rise and a disease cripples while throwing a wrench into everyone's plans - especially high flyers hopelessly addicted to First Class travel for any reason whatsoever?

Yes, we need a distraction, something newsy to forward daily via WhatsApp while mulling the future which just keeps receding. So, sit back and enjoy what is about to explode onto a screen in your hand.

And be happy, you cannot complain about the worst of punishments and that devil's workshop - boredom.

PurpleJaguar0553: What a sandiwara (shadow play).

The rest of Malaysia is sick of our lawless, greedy and corrupt politicians who think that such ‘sexcapades’ are the only subject that should be on our minds when the economy is crashing and we have a global pandemic which is spreading relentlessly.

Anonymous_15897060865429524: In the days of former Johor menteri besar Onn Jaafar and Malaysia’s first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malay politics was elegant. They were gentlemen. They had class and they lived and breathed ‘adat’ (customary traditions).

Their goal was to help a young nascent nation take its first strides and they did that standing side-by-side with their non-Malay brothers like MCA founder Tan Cheng Lok and former MIC president VT Sambanthan.

The Malay politicians of the past were nation-builders and true leaders of men. They had class. What is the state of Malay politics today? Well, read the news and judge for yourself.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Is this what the Malays can be proud of after 63 years of independence? All it takes is an SD and the police spring into action out of nowhere. Is this what politics is all about? And with all this, you want us to be proud Malaysians?

When are the Malays going to say that enough is enough? Are they going to be led by the noose like this for decades to come? With this kind of filth, you demand that the non-Malays respect you, your faith, culture and style of administration?

Indeed, Malays of today are not the Malays of the past who were very honourable, respectful and cultured people. We have turned into a sick society with nowhere to turn to because, at every turn, you are met with a corrupted official who can be bought and sold like goods.

Quigonbond: It does not take a genius to figure out who the report is directed against. The thinking behind the conspirators is: "We can do anything we want because we have the Malay votes."

It makes me wonder if there is a real disconnect between general decency and Islamic teachings, where obedience trumps independent critical assessment.

RedShark6167: Is this the only way to beat your opponents in politics? Can’t you win support through good performance, impressive GDP growth, reduced unemployment, reduced poverty, meritocracy and fairness?

You don’t try to kill a human three times. Cukup lah! (Enough!)

Mano: @RedShark6167, if they are clean and their reason for them being in politics is truly the rakyat, they will not do this. This is wasting everyone's time and effort. The country deserves better.

Honma: The most popular Malaysian dish ‘Sodomee’ will never fail to resurface every five years and close to the general election.

And this case happened in 2013, and police reports were lodged after a lapse of seven years. The complainant must have consented and was paid for his service. The police should not only go after the culprit but also the willing "victim".

Mazilamani: Let us put aside the SD accusing the immoral activity of a prominent politician, though most may have already guessed who he is. This is definitely a final attempt by someone, or an interest group, to bury alive his political career for good.

On the other hand, some people just don't learn their lesson. Their obsession or addiction comes first, even if it destroys their personal reputation, along with their family, who have stood by him, burdened by shame. I truly feel sorry for the family.

Anonymous 5035: Actually, the ruling party has been ‘sodomising’ the rakyat. First, they stole our mandate. Then they target the politicians we elected before they stole the government. And the rakyat can't even make an SD against this backdoor government.

But most importantly, let's not forget who opened the backdoor for them to come in, in the first place.

GrayCondor1956: This sickening politics must end. Let us push for GE15 and get rid of all the sick old politicians.

Let's get young people to stand for elections and vote them in. The future is for the young and they need to take charge now. We do have many of them from all parties.

Vote for good governance. Let's bury the sickening old-style politics for good.
