Mid Valley and The Gardens malls in KL confirm Covid-19 case

Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall in Kuala Lumpur, in a joint-statement tonight, confirmed that an employee of their tenant was infected with Covid-19.
The management of the two malls said the employee worked for London Sales Cosmetics Sdn Bhd (LSC).
They explained that LSC operates three outlets under different names in Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall.
They are Origani and Élévatione Time Stops in The Gardens Mall and Surreal by Élévatione Time Stops in Mid Valley Megamall.
"The employee informed her management at LSC on Oct 9 that one of her family members was exposed to the virus.
"She immediately isolated herself through self-quarantine and arrangements were made for her to take the Covid-19 test which was confirmed positive on Oct 10.
"She did not exhibit any symptoms of Covid-19. The Gardens Mall and Mid Valley Megamall management were informed of the positive test result on Oct 11," they said in the statement.
The malls' management added that the Health Ministry has commenced contact tracing.
"Sanitisation and disinfection of all three outlets under LSC as well as all common areas throughout the entire two malls are ongoing.
"The three outlets were closed immediately and will remain so until further notice.
"We would like to assure customers, tenants, and visitors of The Gardens Mall and Mid Valley Megamall that their health and safety are of utmost importance," they said.
They added that precautionary measures have been implemented to maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene as recommended by the government.
"We continue to urge everyone to practice safe health measures as outlined by the Health Ministry which includes wearing a mask at all times, washing hands thoroughly with soap, and practising social distancing," they said.
The announcement came after 1Utama Shopping Mall in Petaling Jaya was ordered shut yesterday after the discovery of four Covid-19 cases.
Earlier today, Bangsar Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur also announced that an employee of its tenant had tested positive for Covid-19.
The employee worked for the Origani store. The staff member last showed up for work on Oct 6.
The mall is closing early today for sanitisation work and will resume operations tomorrow.
LSC updated on Oct 13 that their employee who previously tested positive for Covid-19 has since tested negative.
“After another two rounds of NPS PCR testing and extensive blood work, her results came back negative for Covid-19.
“This conclusively demonstrates that the original diagnosis was erroneous and a false positive report,” said the company in a statement on Facebook.
The employee is currently healthy and back home with family members, all of whom also tested negative for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the company said 95 percent of their operations staff have already tested negative for Covid-19 while the remaining five percent are still awaiting their results.
