In a statement today, Anwar said he took note and uphold the royal decree of Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah on the abuse of power, corruption and political games.
The sultan had also expressed his disappointment on the political development in Perak and labelled the state administration as a failure in leadership.
"I am of the view that it (the royal decree) is not limited to the political situation in Perak, but also at the federal level as well.
"The institutional reform should be accelerated to enable good governance, responsible and at the same time will not betray the people's mandate and neglect the interest of the people," said Anwar, who is also PKR president.
Perak Umno made the move against former menteri besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu following dissatisfaction over his leadership, particularly the unilateral appointment of an Umno assemblyperson as his political secretary.
After ousting him, Umno initially had difficulty securing a majority to install state Umno chief Saarani Mohamad as the menteri besar.
This was because PAS and Bersatu had objected to the decision to vote out Faizal.
However, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had apologised for Perak Umno's actions and an agreement was reached with PAS and Bersatu.
Zahid had also made an agreement with Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang regarding the distribution of positions in the new state government.
