As movement restriction relaxes nationwide, more and more business premises are announcing temporary closure for sanitation, due to Covid-19 infection among staff or customers.
In the past fortnight, a number of supermarkets and markets across the country have faced the same problem.
Below are markets and supermarkets which reportedly closed temporarily for disinfection after exposure to the virus:
- Pasar Besar Klang, Selangor (Dec 17)
The wet market was closed for disinfection and contact tracing after 14 fishmongers tested positive for Covid-19.
The cases are part of the Pasar Baru cluster, which had 364 cases as of Dec 29.
- Pasar Awam Larkin, Johor (Dec 17)

This wet market was ordered to close for disinfection after an employee tested positive for Covid-19, the Johor Health Department said.
- EconSave, Forest Heights, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (Dec 20)
The supermarket was closed for disinfection after cases were detected among staff members.
The cases are linked to the Persiaran Heights cluster, which had 77 cases as of Dec 29.
- Jaya Grocer, Glo Damansara, Selangor (Dec 24)
The upmarket supermarket at this mall in Selangor temporarily closed for disinfection after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.
The staff member was last at the premises on Dec 18.
All other staff members at the branch underwent Covid-19 screening, Jaya Grocer said.
- Bangsar Market by Jaya Grocer, KL Eco City, Kuala Lumpur (Dec 27)
According to a notice put up at the supermarket, the outlet is closed temporarily after a Covid-19 case was detected there.
When contacted, a KL Eco City Mall representative confirmed this and assured that the mall has been fully disinfected.
- Pasar Awam Banting, Selangor (Dec 27)

The market is closed for disinfection and contact tracing until Jan 7 after 25 cases were found linked to this venue.
Selangor Health Department director Dr Sha'ari Ngadiman said 43 close contacts of the infected persons have been tested while 101 traders will be screened tomorrow.
- Pasar Payang, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu (Dec 28)
Three visitors at this market tested positive for Covid-19, Kuala Terengganu MP Ahmad Amzad Hashim said.
However, 126 traders screened have tested negative.
- Jaya Grocer, Quayside Mall, Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor (Dec 29)
The supermarket yesterday announced temporary closure for disinfection after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.
The staff member was last at the supermarket on Dec 27.
- Pasar Taman Johor Jaya, Johor (Dec 29)
The market is closed for sanitation for a week, starting yesterday, after a fishmonger tested positive, Oriental Daily reported.
- Mydin Mall, USJ 1, Selangor (Dec 29)
The hypermarket was sanitised at 10pm last night after several employees were found to have tested positive for Covid-19.
This was after Mydin conducted mass testing on all its employees nationwide, local news portal SJ Echo reported.
