Umno partners have been deluding themselves for too long to trust this rookie politician who has been thrust into the political limelight well before his time.

On Khairy, you started it, you end it!

AP: It certainly irks the Chinese community to learn that Khairy has been trying to back paddle over what he had said. What was it he had wanted to say that could so seriously be misunderstood. One has to doubt his sincerity (and others like him) when he espouses equal partnership with the other BN partners. The latter have been deluding themselves for too long to trust this rookie politician who has been thrust into the political limelight well before his time.

KSN: What is wrong if MCA asks for fair and legitimate treatment for the Chinese community? That is their responsibility although the MCA never in its history stood up for anything.

A young boy who is obviously immature and has no idea about the undercurrents of multiracial and multireligious country like Malaysia, in spite of his Oxford background, Khairy is a disgrace and an example never to be emulated by any another product of that institution. But going by Umno tradition, he is moving to the top very fast if the precedents in Umno is the criterion. Imagine the attitude and outlook of our future leadership!

Why is he allowed to make racial and insulting statements and get away with it? Can someone, Umno or MCA, respond on this?

Vovi: I don't know what's wrong with Umno Youth - they can instigate racism openly in official ceremony and get praised for it! Just think, some of Malaysia's young leaders (or inspire to be) are in fact criminals. But then again, I guess Malaysia is the Bolehland for anything under the sun.

Ahmad Fuad: This is not the first time that we see the racial card being played. Do we dare believe this to be the last? Wasn't the previous PM an expert in this? Who can forget Suqiu's (so-called) demands in 1999? "OK... can be discussed" (before the general elections), but afterwards, they suddenly became "communist"?

Each party has to fight for its "own", because the line is racially drawn. For as long as the approach and solution are not issue related, we must expect the "spat" to be perpetually repeated. To borrow a famous slogan, "Dulu, kini dan selamanya".

Kaisim: We have not grown wiser even at 49th year of Merdeka. Today, the world is talking of globalisation and how best we can compete in the world so that it can bring benefits to the nation. Malaysia, and its bankrupt politicians, are talking about everything racial - who is to get what and how much. In fact, all politicians especially the ruling party, should work hard to make everyone feel proud of this country. Our youths today are so confused with the government that patriotism has no meaning to them because our young leaders are talking nothing except playing up racial issues.

We are far away from nationhood. Those who shout Merdeka are hypocrites. Look at our neighbour, the population fought for a ticket to be in their independence celebration. The way they sang, danced and talked with full spirit - even as a Malaysian I feel proud of them. But in Malaysia, I don't see this ever happen in the near future. The problem with us is that we talk more than we walk.

On Heavens may fall, but let justice be done

Huang: All right-thinking Malaysians would definitely like natural justice to be practised and seen to be practised. Political parties should allow the courts to hear their case if there is any dispute between two contenders. Let the judge decide after weighing both sides of the argument. Political leaders should not be judges themselves for the simple reason that they may be an interested party to a dispute.

Regarding the dismissal of the former Lord President Tun Salleh Abas and the suspension of five judges (two of whom were subsequently sacked), there is a real issue here. If we wish to know the whole truth and not the partial truth, we should review the case. There is no reason to be afraid of the whole truth. "Call a spade a spade" - that's what the minister in the PM's Department has been advocating. Hence, he should re-open the case and let the truth prevails.

We should not brush aside this issue as frivolous for it hinges on natural justice. Be fair to those who were affected by that case. Some had passed away. Let the living know that justice has, at last, been served; and that the dead have not died in vain. The judges had served the nation for many years. The least that the present government can do is to lay to rest the issue, one way or the other.

On Suaram: Sack 'in denial' UPM VC

IL: Dear Malaysians, open up your eyes and see for yourselves how can these people such as the UPM VC be allowed to educate our children. What are they going to learn from these universities like UPM ( Universiti Paling Malu )? One thing for sure, you will not learn responsibility, honesty, integrity and other good values there. You will certainly experience the opposite of good values if you are part of a minority ethnic group there.

On Haze hits peninsular Malaysia

HL Too: The Indonesian government must be made to understand that they stand indicted for their inability to prevent these fires which have been blanketing our skies with haze yearly for almost 10 years since 1997. It is just no good fighting the fires. They have to learn that preventing people from starting fires is more effective than merely putting the fires out. If this is the approach, then are they going to have a permanent fire-fighting force dedicated to putting out fires after the people set them. Somebody should tell the Indonesians that to their Asean counterparts, they are a neighbour from hell.

On Seremban Umno: Dr M speaks the truth

Rose: If there are more Umno divisions like the Seremban Umno division, at least we all still got hope. Democracy and truth will prevail. Leaders like Ishak Ismail are not cowards and apple polishers. They represent those that have credibility and integrity. I also take my hats to the Petaling Jaya Utara Umno Youth division and the Padang Besar Umno division. If the government has nothing to hide, they should not have any fear.

On Sports academy: Azalina, do your math

Rakyat: I read with disgust our so-called minister still insisting on building the sport complex at great costs to taxpayers when it is clear to ordinary rakyat that such a project is unproductive, wasteful and stupid. It shows that those so-called ministers either have peanut brains if any, or have no sense of priority whatsoever and therefore an embarrassment to all those who elected them in the last election.

Let us all dump all these idiots in the next election.
