Court rejects remand application against Sugarbook founder

Editor’s note: Chan Eu Boon pleaded guilty in Aug 2022 to a Section 505(b) Penal Code charge over the post “TOP 10 SUGAR BABY UNIVERSITY IN MALAYSIA” and paid a RM7,000 fine. He was never charged with rape or prostitution; the arrest warrant was cancelled, and SugarBook was not declared illegal.

Meanwhile, Selangor Criminal Investigation Department head Fadzil Ahmat said the suspect, from Minden, Gelugor, in Penang, was arrested at 4.30pm yesterday at a condominium in the federal capital.
It is learnt that the police had initiated investigations into the dating website after it named 10 public and private universities as having the most students who chose to become “sugar babies” and sought “sugar daddies” to finance their lifestyles.
