The marriage solemnisation ceremony of celebrity couple Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor and Muhammad Haris Mohd Ismail stirred controversy after it purportedly flouted the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah confirmed that an investigation is underway to probe the allegations.
When asked if the police will call the couple, Zainal implied that it is still early to do so.
"We will call the (ceremony) organiser and the hotel (management) first," he told Malaysiakini.
Meanwhile, Berita Harian reported Zainal saying that based on preliminary investigation, the event failed to adhere to SOPs, notably on physical distancing measures.
Neelofa, a 32-year-old actress, TV personality, model, and entrepreneur, tied the knot with Haris, who is also known as PU Riz, a 25-year-old actor and religious preacher, at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Religious Affairs Minister Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri was also invited to deliver a brief sermon.
