Terengganu Menteri Besar Idris Jusoh today slammed PAS leaders for not respecting the sanctity of the Ramadan month and hurling harsh words in the state assembly.

According to Bernama , he said using such words have become a norm for the Islamic-based opposition party's leaders.

"They always talk about Islam, but utter improper words in this August House.

"We don't hear such words coming from Barisan Nasional leaders because we know how to respect the sanctity of the Ramadan month," he added.

He was commenting on an incident earlier where Wan Abdul Muttalib Embong (PAS-Batu Burok) called the state Islam Hadhari and welfare development committee chairperson Rosol Wahid "bodoh and tolol" (stupid and idiotic).

This happened when Wan Abdul was debating the state service commission enactment (SPN) amendment 2006.

The PAS leader became angry when Rosol interrupted and asked him to explain certain matters regarding the enactment.

However, Wan Abdul withdrew his remarks after being ordered to do by the Speaker Che Mat Jusoh.

Police need proof

In an unrelated matter, Deputy Internal Security Minister Mohd Johari Baharum said the police cannot act according to their whims and fancies to bring a suspect to court.

"That is why sometimes, there are cases which take a long time but this does not mean we don't act. We need sufficient proof to take further action," he added.

He was responding to the Public Complaints Bureau's annual report which revealed that the Internal Security Ministry had received a large number of complaints.

According to the report, the highest number of complaints were regarding the police's late response.

Continuing his defence, Johari said the force has solved numerous cases.

"Lately, many cases have been promptly solved such as the robbery of a security firm in Shah Alam. It can be said the Deva gang has been completely paralysed. In just a few months, these cases were solved.

"It is not that we are late in acting but we need enough evidence to bring the case to court," he added.
