Sarawak will implement tighter additional movement controls from tomorrow until June 7 as part of its standard operating procedure (SOP) to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
The State Disaster Management Committee, in a statement today, said the additional controls included a three-person limit for private cars, while transportation services are allowed to operate at 50 percent of passenger capacity.
“Children aged 12 and below are not allowed to go out to public, open and congested areas without reasonable excuse. The use of MySejahtera application must be prioritised and operators of premises must only allow low-risk patrons in,” the statement added.
The Kuching zone has also been divided into four, namely Kuching Zone comprising the Kuching district and Samarahan division; Serian Zone (Serian division); Lundu Zone (Lundu district) and Bau Zone (Bau district).
“Movement between the zones is allowed for essential services, working individuals and emergencies and police permit is required. Residents who work in these zones and are affected by the changes are exempted from taking the swab test every 14 days test and are also allowed to obtain a police permit by producing their employer’s letter,” it said.
The operating hours for all sectors in the state will be from 6am to 8pm and staff attendance in the office, excluding frontliners, is limited to only 20 percent for the public sector and 60 percent for the private sector.
“Face-to-face meetings for official/work matters are not allowed,” it said, adding that all sports activities for the purpose of training and organisation of competitions or tournaments as well as public recreation are not permitted, except for individual jogging and exercises.
Sarawak today recorded 530 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total infections to 42,813, while three new fatalities reported today take the death toll to 255.
In the same statement, the Sarawak Health Department said a new cluster in Selumit, Tanjung Manis, was detected today, involving a public service agency at the government administration centre in the area.
