I agree completely with Khalid. Other than the NEP numbers, the flap over Lee Kuan Yew's statement is also being put into overdrive. All this is just spin. Everything is being orchestrated towards diverting attention away from the real issues at hand. Both these issues will take centre stage at the upcoming Umno General Assembly.

For example, the two-week deadline is over for the Umno disciplinary committee to announce the results of the investigation into the complaints about money politics filed by the five members from Kubang Pasu. Where are the results of the investigation? The issue is being cleverly pushed under the carpet.

Corruption is still rife, the economy is sluggish. For the first time in the history of our country official growth projections were reduced from 6.3% to 5.8 %. They may need to be reduced a second time. And for the second time, the prime minister has clearly exhibited his incompetence in another prime-time television interview with CNN.

Meng: Mr Khairy, you are no stranger to playing racial politics and we can now all see the true man that you are. The question is how can a seemingly gentle prime minister allow an arrogant, loud-mouthed son-in-law to continue making damaging remarks to the Chinese community and not apologise.

If Asli's paper employed bad methodology then discuss it in a rational non-emotional manner. I don't see many Malays getting upset. Instead, I see Umno, the prime minister and other cabinet ministers emotionally charged up over the issue. Whether the research paper is true or not is besides the point. The fact is Malaysian leaders do not have the capacity to carry out an objective discussion.

Why is Khairy shocked that it's a political retraction. Does he not know that everything in Malaysia is politics. Even his racial slip-up is political. I think this is a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black.
