Anonymous: The man is a councillor and he abuses the laws of the council of which he is a part. There is no excuse. He must be sacked and punished. Otherwise it will be seen as typically 'Malaysia Boleh'. Umno and Khir Toyo must understand that the rakyat cannot accept half measures where Umno leaders are concerned.

For too long, they have abused their positions and got away laughing all the way to the bank. They must be punished and be seen to be punished. Otherwise it is just sandiwara. And there will come a day when they will face the wrath of the rakyat. On the other hand, that might be good - the wrath of the rakyat.

Michael Tan: It's time to put members of the mob under police custody. The full penalty of the law must be imposed on them. They must be made examples of for all the rakyat to see that such behaviour are not to be tolerated regardless of who they are.

The police were there to witness the situation. Apparently, the mob uttered racial slurs, carried dangerous weapons most probably with the intent to hurt or injure others and threatened to inflict serious bodily harm. Other eyewitnesses were also present to testify to the primeval and malevolent behaviour of the mob. Photos of the members of the mob were also taken.

Now that two police reports have been lodged, there's enough evidence for the police. We are waiting for the authority to act accordingly.

Wee Kiong Ang: Zakaria is bad, many other councillors in Selangor are also bad. Bad as they are, they just can't be as bad as that Toyo fellow. How else can the so-called only developed state in Malaysia be making all sort of shameless news if the MB is any good?

Toyo thinks he is smart by allowing the many problems involving various personalities to fester until they grow ugly and then coming in to resolve them. He thinks that by his so doing, people will look up to him as being very capable.

In fact, to change and improve situation in every local authority in Selangor, the person to go, may I suggest, should be Toyo. Then again, who appoints Toyo or who has the authority over his appointment? We just hope that we don't have him as MB much longer.

Suria Kenchana: It our serious expectation that both the ACA and the income tax department would demand a proper account as to how our Dato "Z" has managed to accumulate the reported RM8 for his property.

At the same time, we are watching with keen interest on whether or not Pak Lah will walk the talk by practising what he had been preaching all this while by also demanding that Dato "Z" step down from his position as a state legislative councillor.

IL: I think that it is only right that the son and daughter-in-law of Zakaria be stripped of their positions as councillors. It will not be right if only Zakaria alone was asked to resign. Ganapathy: It is people like the Menteri Besar Selangor who have made Zakaria to behave the way he does. He has gone against the local government laws, refused to pay local rates for 12 years running until it was highlighted in the media, refused to heed the instructions/advice of the council chairman, failed to keep his appointment with the Sultan while being able to take a holiday in Malacca and yet the MB has declared him a responsible person if he resigns as a councillor.

Responsible my foot. He still has his illegal satay restaurant still intact while his neighbour has lost his.

HJ Angus: The saying, 'What's done cannot be undone' applies here. Malaysians must uphold the principle of law and not allow any ex-PM to destabilise the nation unless we are prepared to accept changes through coups and revolutions.

If after 22 years of leadership our system has not improved, it says a lot about past leaders. The present leadership is not perfect as there is no such leader anywhere and all Malaysians should take a more active interest in how the nation is being governed.

To Dr M , there's no need to talk so much about our elected government. Like you yourself mentioned before, you should 'turun padang'. Set up your own party or stand as independant candidate to face the coming election. I bet you've got the guts.

Longtime Sufferer: Tun Mahathir is on shaky ground when he accuses his successor of being above criticism, being made out to be a saint and using dirty tactics to stifle critics. Surely, he remembers he did all that and much more during his 22-year hold on power.

He didn't care two hoots what others said of his policies and iron-fisted rule, which resulted in many dark and shameful chapters in Malaysian history. The ghosts of his dark past have come back to haunt him, but instead of repenting he has projected them onto the current prime minister.

The good doctor should have proclaimed himself PM for Life instead of spending his retirement in torment and making life difficult for others as well.

Can someone please free us from his rancid rantings and find him a hobby. He should be playing with his grandchildren, pottering in the garden and fishing with other pensioners in Putrajaya's ample lakes instead of running down the country like an ingrate. We tolerated him for 22 long years and we need a break!

Lee: Mr PM, please release details to the public so that the citizens can evaluate whether Dr Mahathir did a good job during his 22 years as Malaysia's CEO.

To ease your workload of unnecessary "problems" I would sincerely like to request the PM to table in the coming Parliament sessions the abolishment of the Officials Secret Act, the Printing Presses and Publications Act Printing Act and other Acts that are detrimental to the welfare of the people of Malaysia.

High on my list is the Official Secrets Acts for if this abolished the citizens will be able to expose wrongdoings. Otherwise, dirt will never be exposed and the culprits will never be charged in court.

On PM: Dr Mahathir's son having bigger contracts

A Malaysian in Australia: The PM's credibility is now at its lowest after his response to TDM's remarks after their infamous meeting. After his long "elegant silent" to TDM's rebuff months ago, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi vividly said that his sons didn't get any contracts from the government and also that he didn't know anything about his children's businesses.

Now he said that TDM's children got more contracts than his. This is a leader that openly lied to all Malaysians and claimed that he is 'clean'.

I am no fan of TDM. But we must call "a spade a spade".
