Sajat arrested in Thailand over invalid passport, M’sia seeks extradition

The police today confirmed that cosmetics businessperson Nur Sajat, 36, was arrested in Thailand for using an invalid passport.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Abd Jalil Hassan said she was arrested on Sept 8 by immigration authorities in Thailand.
He added that Sajat was charged in a Thai court and fined the next day.
“The suspect is also wanted in Malaysia… under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public officer and Section 353 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to obstruct a public officer.
“Efforts are being made to bring the suspect back,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Harian Metro reported that Sajat was arrested through information provided by Malaysia.
Her passport was deemed invalid as it had been voided by Malaysian immigration authorities.
Sajat, a transperson, has a warrant out for her for skipping a Syariah High Court hearing.
She was charged with dressing as a woman at a religious event.
