Putrajaya is now making the Covid-19 vaccine compulsory for civil servants employed by the federal government.
The Public Service Department said 98 percent of federal employees were already vaccinated against Covid-19 and only 16,902 or 1.6 percent have yet to get their jab.
"The Public Service Department will make it compulsory for all civil servants of the federal government to take the vaccine in order to instil confidence in the public and ensure a month delivery service to the people," it said in a statement.
It said all federal employees are required to get vaccinated against Covid-19 by Nov 1.
It added that those who have yet to get their Covid-19 vaccine must walk into any government vaccination centre.
"For officers who are unable to get vaccinated due to health reasons, they must present details of their health verified by a government health officer to their department head.
"If any (federal) public servant is still not vaccinated after the deadline and failed to obtain an exemption from a government health officer, they can face disciplinary action in accordance to the enforced rules.
"All civil servants are subjected to the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) 1993," it said.
