Umno Youth chief Hishammuddin Hussien today refused to be drawn into a war of words with MCA Youth.

Hishammuddin said he had no problems with MCA Youth chief Liow Tiong Lai's remark that Umno Youth delegates spewed 'poison' with their racist remarks during the wing's annual meet.

"That is their (MCA Youth's) responsibility. If they raise (certain) issues, we will answer (them)," he told reporters at the sidelines of the 57th Umno general assembly in Kuala Lumpur.

"They have a job to do, we have a job to do. At the end of the day, we all fall under Barisan Nasional," he added.

During a press conference yesterday, Liow expressed regret over the racial slant of the Umno Youth meet.

"It is regretful that the assembly was shrouded in an atmosphere of fiery and emotional sentiments, (bringing out) remarks that were more poisonous and unreasonable than those of the opposition," said the MCA leader.

Rude and uncouth

During the meet, Umno Youth delegates attacked the leaders of other component parties calling them 'rude' and 'uncouth'.

Asked if this would have a negative impact among the grassroots, Hishammuddin said it would not as it was a small matter.

"If you ask me I think no ... unless the press wants it to ... it's not a big matter," added the Umno Youth chief, who is also education minister.
