Malaysia welcomes the appointment of Noeleen Heyzer as the new United Nations secretary-general’s (UNSG) special envoy on Myanmar.

Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said Malaysia believes that Heyzer, a former senior UN diplomat, would bring considerable expertise and impetus for constructive and meaningful engagement towards a peaceful resolution to the prevailing situation in Myanmar.
