Warisan leader accuses Mohamaddin of running away from struggle

Warisan supreme council member Azhar Matussin said the decision by former tourism, arts and culture minister Mohamaddin Ketapi who "chose the easy way out" of leaving the party by turning his back on his GE14 and Sabah state election mandates should not be accepted.
“Mohamaddin (above) ran away from the struggle, leaving his comrades in battle.
"Now, he is colluding with a party that was once said to be bad," he claimed in a statement today.
Azhar, who is also the Darau assemblyperson, said Mohamaddin's move had been expected over the past few days.
"Whatever happens, the people know how to evaluate (his actions) when the time comes. Whatever it is, we wish good luck ahead to Mohamaddin.
"We, who are still in Warisan, will remain with the leadership led by president Mohd Shafie Afdal," he added.
'We did not stray from our original stance'
Commenting on Mohamaddin's statement that he left Warisan to serve better in his constituency, Azhar said the matter should not have reached the point of jumping parties.
This, he said, was because the current government would be fully responsible for the development of an area.
"We did not stray from our original stance after being appointed as assemblyperson, remaining with the permanent stance alongside Warisan," explained Azhar again.
Earlier, Mohamaddin, who is also the Lahad Datu MP and Segama state assemblyperson, followed the footsteps of Sindumin assemblyperson Yusof Yacob earlier this month who announced his exit from Warisan to become an independent assemblyperson supporting the state government, governed by the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
The Segama assemblyperson denied that he made the decision to leave the party because he was "bought".
With the latest development, Warisan - which won 23 state seats in the last general election - now has 19 seats left.
This came after Bugaya Manis Muka assemblyperson Mohd Darah passed away in November last year, Sebatik assemblyperson Hassan A Gani Pg Amir left the party in February, and Yusof and Mohamaddin doing the same this month.
