How could they be helped? And what are the responsibilities of the community members themselves?
These are some of the questions raised and answered by four speakers in a forum on the plight of Indian community two days ago.
The speakers were pro tem PSM secretary-general S Arutchelvan, educationist K Arumugam, writer SB Uthaya Shankar and rights activist R Rathi.
The forum, which was well-attended, was held at the Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall.
It was organised by Chinese newspaper Oriental Daily, the Selangor and KL Chinese Assembly Hall civil rights committee, Youth for Change, Persatuan Alumni Bahasa Tiong USM and Gabungan Anak Muda and Pelajar Jerit (Gamp-Jerit).
