S'wak DAP deputy chief ousted in state polls, Chong remains as chair
Incumbent Sarawak DAP deputy chief David Wong Kee Woan was ousted in the state party polls today.

Incumbent Sarawak DAP deputy chief David Wong Kee Woan was ousted in the state party polls today.

In the Sarawak election last month, Wong was defeated by SUPP's Michael Tiang by a 100-vote majority in the Pelawan state seat.
Wong, in a Facebook post, said: "22 years and finally I can walk away with peace of mind".
Wong was replaced by Alice Lau, who was not given a state seat to contest in the Sarawak election.
Meanwhile, Chong Chieng Jen came in fifth in the top 15 with 94 votes. He was retained as the Sarawak DAP chief.
In the Sarawak polls last month, Chong won the Padungan seat with a 1,198-vote majority. He moved from the state seat of Kota Sentosa which he held since 2006.
Chong's aide Michael Kong Feng Nian contested in Kota Sentosa in last month's state polls and was defeated by SUPP's Yap Yau Sin with a 1,683-vote majority.
The state DAP polls follow a two-step system where delegates elect their top 15 candidates.
The elected candidates will then choose among themselves to fill the specific positions within the state committee.
