Najib says he doesn't have the RM2.6b sought by 1MDB
Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak says he doesn't have the US$681 million (RM2.6 billion) sought by 1MDB and its subsidiaries.
This is after the firms secured an ex-parte Mareva injunction to freeze his assets - with the Pekan MP allowed to withdraw RM100,000 per month for living expenses.

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak says he doesn't have the US$681 million (RM2.6 billion) sought by 1MDB and its subsidiaries.
This is after the firms secured an ex-parte Mareva injunction to freeze his assets - with the Pekan MP allowed to withdraw RM100,000 per month for living expenses.
"I don't know why 1MDB thinks I have RM2.6 billion to pay as compensation. I don't have the money to pay RM1.7 billion sought by the Inland Revenue Board, but they (1MDB) think I have money to pay RM2.6 billion," he said in a Facebook post today.
"I don't have US$681 million in assets," he said.
According to US investigators, in March 2013, Najib received US$681 million misappropriated from 1MDB.
Of this amount, US$620 million was allegedly returned to accounts controlled by fugitive businessperson Jho Low.
Some of the returned funds were allegedly used to purchase jewellery for Najib's wife Rosmah Mansor.
Najib insists that the US$681 million was a donation from the Saudi royal family and denied any wrongdoing. He is currently on trial over the alleged misappropriation.
Suit filed to 'create perception'
Najib in his Facebook post today, implied 1MDB's civil suit was politically motivated.
He claimed that the law firm representing 1MDB, Messrs Rosli Dahlan Saravana, is owned by former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin's personal lawyer.
He said it was clear that the suit was filed to "create perception" that he had assets valued at US$681 million that can be frozen.
"This is false. After years of investigating, the government clearly knows how much in assets I have," he added.
Najib also said in his post that the suit coincides with the upcoming Johor snap polls.
Muhyiddin's party, Bersatu, has been challenging BN to put Najib up as a poster boy for the coalition in the state election.
Najib said such challenges are stupid.
