Residents of block C and D in Taman Petaling Utama, a low cost housing estate situated along Jalan Kelang Lama, have had no telephone services for the last four years.
These residents, from a total of 17 blocks of flats in that area, are part of the Selangor government's re-housing project.
They were housed in the present location after their homes were demolished to make way for property or infrastructure developments. All these residents are low-wage earners.
Their repeated requests for telephone services have fallen in the deaf ears of Telekom Malaysia, the property developer and their member of parliament Donald Lim.
In the meantime, one man has lost his life as a result of the lack of a proper telephone service in this place.
Malaysiakini.tv spoke to the residents to hear their grouses.
