Supp Dudong branch dispute will be resolved at the party's next central working committee (CWC) meeting, the date of which has yet to be fixed.
According to secretary-general Sim Kheng Hui, the party will call for another meeting to discuss matters solely related to the branch.
He told reporters that the CWC meeting in Kuching yesterday only discussed the party's preparation for the Chinese New Year celebrations and did not talk about the Dudong branch dispute.
Dr Soon keeps mum
"It is better not to comment on the issue as we have not discussed it yet," the Borneo Post quoted Sim as saying.
The Sibu Supp branch had recently decided to appoint Sibu MP Tiong Thai King as the Dudong branch pro tem chairperson with Dr Soon Choon Teck, the Dudong assemblyperson, as his deputy. The latter is unhappy with the Sibu branch's decision.
Met by reporters yesterday, Dr Soon refused to comment on the Dudong branch issue, saying that "the secretary-general had said enough."
