I may be outspoken but I am no Azmin Ali, Rafizi tells Anwar

Newly minted PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli today assured that he will never backstab party president Anwar Ibrahim, adding that he is not Azmin Ali.
In his winding-up speech at the PKR National Congress in Shah Alam, Selangor today, Rafizi said he may not know how to sweet talk and can be very strong in his criticisms, but he means well for the party.
"I want to say this to Anwar, I may be lantang (outspoken), but I am no Azmin," he said, referring to the former PKR deputy president who led a mass exodus from the party in 2020.
Azmin was also one of the engineers of the Sheraton Move political coup in 2020, which caused the collapse of the then Pakatan Harapan federal government.
Rafizi said he didn't join politics and PKR to get positions, but hopes that he can be free to speak his mind.
He pointed out that he was not like Azmin who promised many things to Anwar but ended up betraying the PKR president.

"Dear party president, I am not the type of person who can sweet talk in front of you, then stab you in the back.
"I am not the person who promised to break prison walls and free Anwar when he was in jail, but behind you tried to negotiate to become a prime minister.
"I may not sing praises for you and put you on a pedestal. But I hope that I am judged from my consistency in working for the party," he added.
Rafizi was referring to Azmin's speech in 2011, when the latter said that PKR would break into prison to save Anwar if the PKR president was jailed.
Rafizi vows to always be vocal
Yesterday, Rafizi publicly called PKR members to stop being defensive of the party president, after which Anwar responded by saying that Rafizi should use an internal channel to air his grievances as he is now part of the party leadership.

In his speech today, the former Pandan MP told Anwar that he can never be silent and would continue to be vocal.
"This is my promise to the party and its leadership. I will continue to be vocal like this.
"I will never ever be a sweet talker. I do not know how to mince my words,” he said.
Rafizi further expressed a different view on toning down criticisms.
“I believe that criticism is very important to remind us of our responsibilities.
"Because if we do not want to take advice, then the final reminder that can come to a political party would be being rejected by the people in the election,” he added.
