Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has filed a defamation lawsuit against Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for allegedly slandering his ancestry back in 2017.

According to Berita Harian, Mahathir, 97, filed the lawsuit through Messrs Haidir & Co at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on July 20 and named Zahid, 69, as the sole defendant.
