PM: Govt must not let opposition turn LCS into another 1MDB for GE15

Why no action on LCS scandal for over 2 years, Kit Siang asks MACC

BobbyO: Let’s face the facts, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob. Declassifying only part of the littoral combat ships (LCS) documents is not going to improve the perception of the people regarding this scandal.

LCS is not 1MDB. It is even bigger. This concerns the nation's security. If those traitors are willing to place the nation in a precarious position just to satisfy their greed, they should be exposed.

Just like 1MDB, they should give details on where the RM6 billion went, the whole money trail, and into which company's pockets they were diverted.

Just charging one top-ranking individual clearly shows that you are covering up for the real traitors.

Sooner or later, the whole truth will be exposed. It will be better to come out from your side, rather than being exposed by the opposition.

Kilimanjaro: If you look at the root cause of corruption in this country, Umno's name will be splashed all over. By default, it has been in the driver's seat for far too long.

This LCS matter came to be more widely known when Harapan was holding the reins for a very brief two years. How many such scandals are still lying beneath is anyone's wonder.

All the ministers who have headed the Defence Ministry, Finance Ministry, and the prime minister are from Umno. There seems to be no one from within Umno who could be trusted enough to expose such corruption scandals.

Ismail Sabri's statement is both funny and intriguing. For one, is the reason to declassify the LCS documents to make sure that the opposition does not capitalise and not for corruption's sake? I just have to shake my head in disbelief.

The MACC, which was "aggressive" in questioning former DAP aide, the late Teoh Beng Hock, who was supposed to be a witness, took so many years to complete its investigation on the LCS matter.

Using the MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki's reasoning, the "perception" is that the MACC had done a lousy job until the pressure piled up. We heard of the first charge a day after Ismail Sabri told the MACC to get it going.

Kim Quek: This LCS mega corruption scandal is but one of numerous examples that confirm MACC as a political stooge of the ruling elite – good at hounding the opposition but blind to mega corruption of the ruling class.

In doing so, the graft buster and its political master not only scratch each other’s back, but also holds each other to ransom.

That explains why MACC chief Azam Baki could get away scot-free despite concrete evidence of his dubious acquisition of millions of shares, keeping in mind that he could strike if he wishes with the plentiful secret evidence of corruption committed by the political bosses.

The people should realise by now that the only way to prevent this country from slipping unwittingly towards economic ruin is to replace the current corruption-ridden regime with a clean and competent political leadership.

Dr Raman Letchumanan: I wouldn't read much into Ismail Sabri's statement, except that he is trying to save his own skin, and he is becoming very good at that.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak and company were going for his jugular and they thought Ismail Sabri was a pushover.

Even though he is the prime minister, they are dictating to him how to run the country. Now he has very cunningly turned the tables on them.

His statement here is clearly to say the elections will not be held anytime soon. This is telling off Zahid, who said last Saturday elections should be held now if Umno wants to win.

Ismail Sabri released the littoral combat ship (LCS) secret documents to pin down Najib, Zahid, and Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and put the blame squarely on them.

Ismail Sabri has a plan and he is coolly executing it, playing both sides.

Pakatan Harapan doesn't want the election any time soon either, for obvious reasons. With Najib and company out of the picture, these barking dogs will have nothing to bark at.

Harapan should stop their narrative of barking at every tree, twig or stone thrown their way and build their own narrative of being a good alternative to BN.

As I have written, LCS and the previous defence fiasco is a disaster for BN, many times worse than 1MDB.

This goes to the heart of national security and sovereignty, our Tanah Melayu, and more importantly, the image of the armed forces which placed their trust in BN, and similarly to other fixed deposit establishments like the civil service.

If that cancer is removed, the patient will gain all the glory. Therefore, there is no point to DAP and PKR, especially PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli, in digging more dirt.

BN is already in the pits because of LCS. They have to go beyond that and gain the trust of the people, especially the people.

Learn to be strategic and politically savvy if Harapan wants to have a chance at the 15th general election.

Camel Man: Why is it so difficult to investigate the issue? RM6 billion has been paid and all of it has been used.

Go through each purchase order, starting from the biggest, and ascertain whether the right amount was paid to the right company for the right thing.

I promise you, if a team of auditors did that, it would not take long to uncover enough to put the whole bunch of these crooks into jail.
