Eleven fatal road accidents were recorded yesterday, raising the tally to 183 throughout Ops Sikap XII, held to monitor motorists over the Chinese New Year holidays.

The operation will end tomorrow.

According to Bukit Aman police, six of the 11 deaths were motorcyclists and pillion riders, while two each were car drivers and one pedestrian.

Four of the deaths occurred on federal roads, three each on state and municipal roads, and one case on other roads.

Since the campaign was launched last Feb 11, a total of 13,392 accidents were reported throughout the country.

During the period, some 161,052 summonses were issued to traffic offenders, according to a Bernama report.
