Ahmad Maslan: Rakyat will never forget 'suffering' under Harapan, PN

The rakyat will never forget the “suffering” they experienced under the Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional (PN) governments, Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan said.

“The rakyat will not forget Harapan and the sweet promises they failed to fulfil. Out of the 10 things they promised to do in their 100 days of rule, they probably only kept to one or two promises.

“If we check the Harapan manifesto, there were many things that were left as just ‘Harapan’ (hope),” Umno Online quoted Ahmad saying.

The Pontian MP also did not mince his words when commenting about the PN government, saying it “confined” the people for way too long under the pretext of the Covid-19 pandemic, and imposed an emergency just to stay in power.

“If we look back, many people hanged themselves and committed suicide (in other ways) as the PN government locked up people for too long, compared to the other countries. Many people also became bankrupt during the Perikatan rule.

“The emergency the government imposed on the pretext of guarding people during the pandemic was actually a political emergency to enable them to stay in power. That, to me, is the biggest political lie in the country,” said Ahmad, adding that the government should be strengthened without the likes of Bersatu for the sake of the rakyat and the country.

“Come GE15 (15th general election), we (Umno) hope to become a really strong government that can attract other parties for a stable Malaysia.

“This is not for anyone’s political expediency, but for the good of the rakyat and the country.”
