RK: I refer to the furore caused by the suggestion of introducing chastity belt to stop/reduce sexual attacks.

I, for one, am totally all for it but put the belt on the men and give the keys to either their mother, wife or partner. Then those who can't hold back their animal urges won't be able to do anything harmful.

Maybe we can get the person who mooted the idea (later dismissed as a joke ) be the first one to wear the belt. I'm sure Malaysian engineers can come up with a suitable design.

Can the state tourism explain how can this allow to happen right in front of so many tourists and locals, in particularly the Chinese. Was it another way of throwing the muscle by the authority. Surely, the organiser knew all along the timing of the Maghrib prayer when the event schedules was put up. I am disgusted.

Disappointed Malaysian Bumiputera: The former PM don't deserve to be nominated for such a prestigious award in the first place. He is solely responsible for the Malaysia we live in today - disunited and segregated. His disfavour of non-Malays and non-Muslims has divided this country. He has messed up the education system. Look at the schools and Malaysia's premier university - shameful.

Is there really anything good about this man? None that I can think of and I am sure many would say the same. Nobel Peace Prize for Dr M? Oh please, what utter hypocrisy. There is no difference between him and the US president.

On Gov't to blacklist Malays found selling contracts

Concerned Citizen: The government is said to take action against those Malay contractors who are selling their contracts to non-bumi contractors.

This may be a noble approach. But if we are to analyse the present scenario, I don't know how the non-bumi building industry is going to survive? And can the bumi contractors take over the industry overnight?

I figure more than 90% of tenders is restricted to the participation of bumi contractors. Non-bumi contractors have no chance to even tender for government jobs. If the government allows bumi contractors to subcontract to the non-bumis, this may allow the non-bumi contractors to survive, and allow present government projects to proceed without causing serious repercussion to the construction industry.

The practice of subcontracting is common everywhere in the world. Overseas main contractors - those who are given contract to build plant and factory for MNCs, or those who got contracts as the result of foreign aid by their governments - subcontract substantial portion of their works to local contractors.

Some company can get a lot of projects. It will make more business sense for them to continue getting more jobs and pass them on to their reliable subcontractors than running the projects by themselves. Therefore, the government should seriously consider the repercussion of this move. Hopefully this is just political talk and no real action is to be taken.

On We're happy, M'sians tell PM

Peter Ooi: There he goes again. The PM claimed that majority of the Malaysians are generally happy. On the contrary, most of us, Malaysians, are very unhappy with the way he is running the government.

From where did you get the information, Mr Prime Minister? Most probably, the report is concocted by officers who knew what you like to hear. If the survey is conducted among the Unmoputras or those well connected, I believe they do not have any complaints. After all, you had just distributed hundreds of millions among all the Umno divisions in the form of small contracts.

But if the survey is done in the marketplace where the people of different races or status converge, the results will definitely be different. The average rakyat are crying over the increase in toll, petrol, food and medication. Many of the them could hardly make ends meet. And yet you, Pak Lah, is still saying that Malaysians are happy.

Pak Lah, to know the real picture of the conditions of the rakyat, I suggest that you go incognito to the markets, taxi stands, coffee shops or bus stations. Just sit there for an hour or so and eavesdrop into the conversations of the rakyat. The number of complaints against rising cost and your poor governance will probably send you hiding under the very chair you're sitting.
