Amanah has sacked its Kedah chief Phahrolrazi Mohd Zawawi from his position and terminated his status as an ordinary member, with immediate effect, citing actions that allegedly go against the party’s interests.
Amanah secretary-general Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli said top party leaders at a meeting earlier today made the decision under Section 6.2(b) of the party’s constitution.
“...Phahrolrazi was found to have gone against the party’s constitution, defied decisions made by the party and acted against the party’s interest,” said Hatta in a statement.
With Phahrolrazi’s (above) sacking, Hatta said Kedah Amanah deputy chief - Dr Ismail Salleh - will be taking on his duties effective immediately.

The party’s statement made no mention of reasons behind the action against Phahrolrazi, who is also Alor Kundor assemblyperson.
Sources close to the leadership, however, hinted that Phahrolrazi had raised objections to an approved parliamentary seat exchange between Amanah and DAP ahead of the 15th general election.
“Amanah wanted DAP’s Alor Gajah seat, so the DAP (in exchange) asked for Amanah’s Jerai seat. He (Phahrolrazi) did not agree.
“When, in fact, the Alor Gajah seat has more winning potential for Amanah. Malacca Amanah chief Adly Zahari wanted to contest the seat,” said the source.
“Furthermore, the DAP’s candidate in Jerai, Zulhazmy Sharif, is also friendly to Amanah,” the source added.
Amanah communications director Khalid Samad said Phahrolrazi's alleged actions to incite Kedah Amanah leaders and members to “boycott” GE15 are highly unreasonable and unacceptable.

“Although we may have different opinions in terms of party strategy and seat distribution, the action to incite a boycott cannot be accepted.
“It is tantamount to sabotage and is detrimental to the interests of Amanah and Harapan,” said Khalid in a separate statement.
When contacted, Phahrolrazi declined to comment but said he will be holding a press conference later today.
