Mujahid, Hatta Ramli to defend their seats in Perak

Amanah vice-president Mujahid Yusof Rawa will be defending his Parit Buntar parliamentary seat in the upcoming 15th general election, in hopes of retaining the seat for a fourth term.

The party’s secretary-general Mohd Hatta Ramli will also defend his Lumut parliamentary seat, revealed state Amanah chairperson Asmuni Awi when announcing the candidates at Wisma Amanah Perak in Ipoh today.

Meanwhile, incumbent Behrang state assemblyperson Aminuddin Zulkipli was dropped and is now replaced by state Amanah youth chief Khairol Najib Hashim.

Khairol, 30, is also the youngest candidate fielded by the party.

Asked if Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz, son of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, is still a member of the party, Asmuni revealed that he does not have any information regarding the matter.

“I don’t know about that. You must ask Harapan’s national leadership,” he told press members at Wisma Amanah Perak, Ipoh today.

For the record, Nik Omar joined Amanah for the 14th general election (GE14).

Nik Omar, a former PAS member, contested the Chempaka state seat as an Amanah member in GE14.

However, this time around, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim announced that Nik Omar has been assigned a seat in Perak.

He is one out of the PKR’s seven high-profile candidates who will contest under Harapan in the looming national polls.
