Incumbent Tumpat MP Che Abdullah Mat Nawi will contest in GE15 as a BN candidate, defending the seat he won as a PAS man in 2018.

The matter was confirmed by Kelantan BN chairperson Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub today.

He said Kelantan BN agreed to give way to Che Abdullah (above) because he is considered as a candidate who can win the seat.

"The puzzle has been solved when Che Abdullah said he will contest under the BN ticket for the Tumpat seat. We felt a sense of relief when he agreed to our offer.

"His presence was also well received by the Umno grassroots in Tumpat," Ahmad Jazlan said at a press conference at the Kelantan Umno Office in Kota Bharu today.

"We admit that we offered the seat to Che Abdullah and BN had held a meeting with him before," he added.

Earlier, Che Abdullah, who is also a former PAS leader, was dropped from being a PAS candidate when Mumtaz Md Nawi was announced as the candidate for the Tumpat Parliament.

In the last general election, Che Abdullah won the seat on a PAS ticket with a comfortable majority of 17,500 votes, defeating BN and Pakatan Harapan candidates.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Jazlan said, his party is confident that it will provide fierce competition to PN in the battle for parliamentary seats.
