GE15 | Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah may be the second-oldest candidate in the 15th general election but he is not about to be left out in the race to woo young voters.

The 85-year-old incumbent Gua Musang MP, who’s fondly known as Ku Li, has embraced TikTok in a bid to attract the younger generation.

“I started a TikTok account in October. (Not only) to attract young voters, but everyone in general as I believe many people use TikTok,” he told reporters in Gua Musang, Kelantan, today.

“I follow their (his followers) comments,” he said.

Tengku Razaleigh’s TikTok account thus far has 2,768 followers and counting. The highest view on his content stands at 64,400.

Besides TikTok, Tengku Razaleigh is also active on Facebook, under the ID “Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah”.

He is the second-oldest candidate in GE15. Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) chairperson cum incumbent Langkawi MP Dr Mahathir Mohamad is the oldest at 97, while Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) aspirant for the Bayan Baru parliamentary seat Ravinder Singh is the third-oldest at 80 years old.

Tengku Razaleigh is the longest-serving elected lawmaker in the country, after winning the Gua Musang parliamentary seat uncontested in 1974. The constituency was then known as Ulu Kelantan.

He retained the seat with a 3,913 majority in a three-way clash with candidates from PAS and PKR during GE14.
