GE15 | Former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali is heading over to Tambun today to rally Perikatan Nasional campaign workers in advance for their battle against his former party president Anwar Ibrahim.

PN confirmed with Malaysiakini that Azmin will be attending a meeting with party officials, supporters and members at around 4.30pm in Klebang Jaya.

He will be attending alongside Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu and two others running for PN in state seats, namely Hafez Sabri (Manjoi) and Puteri Holijah (Hulu Kinta).

Azmin had led nine PKR MPs who defected to join Bersatu during the Sheraton Move in 2020.

A one-time Anwar protege, Azmin has already gotten into a war of words with his former mentor after PKR announced that Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari would be facing Azmin for the Gombak seat.

Azmin claimed that Amirudin was only given the seat as a “proxy” - in what was previously rumoured to be a showdown between the former and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

“I don't even understand how Gombak became the focus of the entire world. Big names are trying to spy on Gombak and break it up. I even welcomed those who wanted to come to Gombak, those who wanted to send their child or wife. If you can, bring yourself over to Gombak lah!

“Suddenly, he ran to Perak,” he said, referring to Anwar.

Anwar, who has previously served as MP in Permatang Pauh and Port Dickson, has come to Tambun as part of Pakatan Harapan's plan to make Perak a frontline state in this election.
