Ikmal Hisham gives Rafizi 7 days to retract howitzer purchase allegations

GE15 | Outgoing deputy defence minister Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz has given PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli seven days to retract allegations against his family.

Speaking to reporters in Tanah Merah, Kelantan last night, Ikmal Hisham said a letter of demand has been issued against Rafizi.

“He’s ‘playing rough’ by implicating my family in his latest slanderous comments.

“We have issued a letter of demand and a cease and desist notice to Rafizi. I’m doing so to protect my family name.

“I am prepared to go to court to clear my name,” he said.

Ikmal Hisham was also seeking RM500,000 in damages and an apology from Rafizi.

In October, Rafizi claimed that a firm known as MA Analytics Sdn Bhd had been issued a letter of intent by the Defence Ministry in July over the procurement of Turkish-made self-propelled howitzers.

Two days ago, Rafizi furnished company records to back his claim that MA Analytics had links with Ikmal Hisham’s family members.

Malaysiakini cannot independently verify these claims.

Ikmal Hisham is the incumbent MP for Tanah Merah. He will be defending his seat under the PAS ticket.
