Ng Chee Pang, the 22-year-old independent candidate who took on Barisan Nasional (BN) in January's Batu Talam by election in Pahang, was spotted in Machap, Malacca, where another by-election is set to take place on April 12.

Chee Pang and his father, former DAP Pahang strongman Kwi Ling, were loitering about the nomination centre on Tuesday.

Although, they were in the company of some 500 DAP supporters, Chee Pang said he was there on a different mission.

"I am here to demand that Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak keeps his promises to the voters in Batu Talam.

"They (BN leaders) are good at making promises but not fulfilling them. Where is the new bridge, new road and new pipes?" he asked.

In view of this, Chee Pang said he will urge voters in Machap to reject BN in the coming by-election.

He claimed that if BN can deceive voters in Batu Talam, it can do the same in Machap.

Black and white

Meanwhile, his father said the pair would not have come to Machap if BN leaders had fulfilled their promises in Batu Talam.

"Umno, MCA and MIC (BN component parties) can make promises but cannot fulfill them because they don't have power, similarly for DAP. However, Najib has the power because he is the deputy prime minister.

"If they (BN leaders) make promises again, it must be in black and white. If Najib makes promises again, I will tell the voters in Machap to demand for them in black and white," he added.

In the Batu Talam polls, Chee Pang was crushed by BN candidate Abdul Aziz Kiram by a majority of more than 5,000 votes.

The Machap by-election will see a straight fight between BN's Lai Meng Chong and DAP's Liou Chen Kuang.
