Umno appoints Ku Li as adviser - report

Umno has appointed Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, a veteran member of the party, as an adviser.

As reported by Free Malaysia Today, a divisional leader within Umno, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that Tengku Razaleigh’s appointment was made during a meeting attended by the party’s top leadership.

The meeting was believed to have taken place earlier today at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

It is said that Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, deputy president Mohamad Hasan, and vice-presidents Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, and Johari Abdul Ghani attended the meeting.

A source close to Zahid mentioned the appointment when contacted by Malaysiakini.

Tengku Razaleigh (above), popularly known as Ku Li, was unable to retain his Gua Musang parliamentary seat for the 12th consecutive term in the 15th general election. 

He unexpectedly lost to Perikatan Nasional candidate Azizi Abu Naim.

Azizi won with a slim majority of 163 votes after garnering 21,826 votes, while Tengku Razaleigh received 21,663 votes.
