A Malay daily today identified Perak Regent Raja Nazrin Shah's bride-to-be as Zara Davidson.

Utusan Malaysia , quoting a source, said Zara was in her 30s and knew Raja Nazrin for some years now.

The daily said she was a daughter of a prominent lawyer. Her father was reported to own his legal firm in Kuala Lumpur.

The paper also said that Zara was from an eminent family in Kedah, with her grandfather being a well-known political personality in Kedah in the days of Independence.

The source was also quoted as saying that Zara and the Perak prince got to know each other a few years ago after being introduced by a close mutual friend.

Bernama reported yesterday that Raja Nazrin, 50, will tie the knot at Istana Iskandariah, Bukit Chandan, on May 17.

The Comptroller of the Perak royal household Raja Mansur Raja Razman said the Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah had consented to the proclamation of Raja Nazrin's bride as the Raja Puan Besar of Perak and the conferment of the Darjah Kerabat on her.

The ceremony will be held at the palace on May 18.

The statement from Raja Mansur did not make any mention of the bride.

The bersanding ceremony would take place at the Balairong Seri of Istana Iskandariah on the night of May 19, followed by a banquet.
