State-linked Singapore investment firm Temasek Holdings has sold its 3.3 percent stake in Telekom Malaysia, the biggest telecommunication operator in Malaysia, a company spokesperson said today.

"Temasek confirmed the sale of its stake in Telekom Malaysia," the spokesperson said but gave no further details on the transaction.

The state-linked Singapore investment firm invested in the Malaysian telecom outfit in March 2004.

Established in 1974 by the government, Temasek owns stakes in some of Asia's best-known companies including Singapore Airlines and Singapore Telecommunications.

It has stepped up its investments in Asia's emerging economies in recent years, snapping up stakes in companies in the financial, telecoms and technology sectors.

Temasek's corporate portfolio is valued at 129 billion Singapore dollars (85 billion US).
