Puteri Umno denied distributing copies of a 'sex VCD' linked to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) adviser Anwar Ibrahim during the Ijok by-election campaign.

Its deputy chief Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin told malaysiakini yesterday that the movement does not resort to tarnishing the reputation and dignity of a person in order to garner votes.

"Puteri Umno members did not come across any VCDs involving the PKR adviser or anybody else. We have no knowledge of this.

"Maybe the VCD was distributed by others, such as traders," she said, describing the allegation as baseless.

Last Friday, Anwar claimed that Puteri Umno members distributed copies of the VCD during the by-election, which saw PKR candidate Khalid Ibrahim defeated by Barisan Nasional's K Parthiban.

Meanwhile, Rosnah said Anwar and the opposition can make all sorts of allegations but cannot produce proof because these things never happened.

"Accusing others without evidence may be the way the opposition campaigns, but Puteri Umno does not use such tactics.

"I too can allege that this or that person distributed sex VCDs of BN leaders just to run down the opposition, but this is not Puteri Umno's way of doing things," she added.

Rosnah said Puteri Umno members were in Ijok to explain government policies in order to help the people and develop the nation.

She said the movement's members were not there to "dabble in uncouth matters (distributing the alleged VCD)."

According to her, Puteri Umno's clean approach was more effective than using means to slander others.

The April 28 by-election saw both the opposition and BN accusing each other of using violence and dirty tactics.
