Incumbent Subang Jaya rep apologises for billboard featuring sultan

STATE POLLS | Pakatan Harapan candidate for Subang Jaya Michelle Ng Mei Sze has apologised for depicting the Selangor ruler on one of her campaign billboards.

In a tweet yesterday, Ng said her team has removed the billboard and thanked Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal for raising the matter on social media.

The offending billboard carried a message that the Amirudin Shari administration of Selangor saw a new innovation - online legislative assembly sittings.

This was accompanied by a photograph of state assembly members seated alongside the Selangor sultan in official legislative assembly uniforms.

This billboard carried the Harapan logo and was put up as part of Ng's campaign.

"Ng is not a new candidate. She has been a lawmaker before. It is unlikely that she doesn't understand the rules.

"It is very insulting for her to drag the palace into partisan politics," Wan Fayhsal said on social media.

However, Ng said the photograph was used to represent the legislative assembly and there was no intention to involve the ruler in their campaign.

Ng is seeking a second term as the Subang Jaya assemblyperson.

She is being challenged by Perikatan Nasional's Gana Pragasam Sebastian and Muda's Zayd Shaukat.
