Campaign draws to an end

12am: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - The campaign period for the six state elections draws to a close at the stroke of midnight.

Voters in Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu will begin casting their ballots at 8am. Polling will end at 6pm.

The Election Commission predicts that voter turnout will exceed 85 percent, which is higher than last November’s general election.

‘Fatwa Muhyiddin’: All Covid vaccine recipients must vote PN

11.59pm: Hulu Kelang, Selangor - Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin quips that all those who received their Covid-19 vaccination should vote for his coalition.

“It is mandatory for all those who got their vaccines when PN was the government to vote PN. This is Muhyiddin’s ‘fatwa’,” he tells the audience.

Muhyiddin also describes the Anwar Ibrahim-led administration as a “government of liars” which is unable to resolve the economic issues plaguing the nation.

Motorists honk for PN

11.55pm: Gurun, Kedah - As campaigning wraps up, scores of cars and motorbikes decked out with PN flags are seen driving around Gurun, Kedah.

The motorists honk loudly to show their support for PN.

PN is looking to capture Gurun from Harapan.

‘I forgive Dr M but he keeps kicking’ - Anwar

11.50pm: Sungai Petani, Kedah - Anwar Ibrahim says he has long forgiven his former mentor-turned-rival Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

However, he says that Mahathir is recalcitrant.

"I forgave him, but don't do it again. Instead, I forgive, but he kicks again, forgive and another kick," he adds.

Anwar then says those he can't forgive, however, are those who steal people's lands, rare earth, or funds from Jana Wibawa.

At the end of his speech, Anwar calls on Kedah Harapan-BN candidates to join him on stage.

Those in attendance then sing "Allah selamatkan kamu" to mark the premier's birthday.

‘With Umno wave of discontent, PN will capture all states’

11.45pm: Hulu Kelang, Selangor - PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man says there is a “wave” among Malay voters in this state election and it is related to Umno.

“This is a wave from Umno of those dissatisfied with (Umno president Ahmad) Zahid (Hamidi),” he says.

The Kubang Kerian MP says there is discontent in Umno because Zahid had in the past declared “No Anwar and No DAP”.

“With this Umno wave (of discontent), we will capture all states, including Penang,” he says.

Caretaker Penang CM thanks exco members

11.45pm: Jelutong, Penang - Caretaker Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow expresses his gratitude to his exco members.

"In these five years we have seen the Penang economy get better and achieve the best record in this period," he says.

Chow even teases himself, giving the speech like that of a farewell message, but he stresses that tomorrow will be a new beginning.

He also shares the Ilham Centre survey which shows that Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan have better performance compared to states governed by PN, saying that this is a good recognition.

All Penangites contributed to Penang’s success, he adds.

Harapan slowly replicating Najib era, claims Muda chief

11.40pm: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman says that Pakatan Harapan is slowly replicating the Najib Abdul Razak political era.

While delivering the final speech of the Muda Ceramah Mega Finale in Bukit Gasing, he states that Harapan needs to be reminded of what they were fighting for before they became the government.

“I have nothing personal against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, but we have to be consistent in what we preach,” the Muar MP adds.

Syed Saddiq explains that the government continues to centralise its power within the system, akin to Najib’s administration, a departure from Harapan’s decades-long core struggle.

Stop insults, look after the people instead - PM

11.25pm: Sungai Petani, Kedah - Anwar Ibrahim says the election campaign is no time for insults.

"State elections are not for insulting and attacking people. Don't be an empty tin can using this opportunity to vent your frustrations.

"Look after the people instead," he says.

He adds that criticisms can be done without resulting to insults.

Anwar has often been the punching bag for Kedah caretaker menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

Shahidan: We will give Amirudin 5-year holiday

11.15pm: Hulu Kelang, Selangor - Shahidan Kassim fires a sarcastic salvo at caretaker menteri besar Amirudin Shaari.

“The caretaker MB says it will be a holiday in Selangor on Monday if Pakatan Harapan-BN wins the election. Never mind, when PN wins tomorrow, we will give him a five-year holiday,” he says.

The former Umno leader also predicts that PN will win five of the six states.

“It will be a clean sweep in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu. We are leading in Negeri Sembilan. In Selangor, I predict PN will win 34 seats and Harapan-BN 22.

“Only in Penang, we are trailing 22 to 18,” adds the Arau MP.

Ramkarpal sees ‘red wave’ coming

11.10pm: Jelutong, Penang - DAP's national legal bureau chairperson Ramkarpal Singh says he feels some states might be swept away by a ‘red wave’ on polling day.

"In two weeks of campaigning, I have gone to other states (such as) Selangor, Kedah and Negeri Sembilan, I feel there will be a ‘red wave’ (gelombang merah) happening tomorrow."

He foresees Pakatan Harapan obtaining positive results as it wants.

Anwar makes final stop

11.05pm: Sidam, Kedah - Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrives at Padang Eupe for his final stop to wrap up Pakatan Harapan-BN’s campaigning efforts in the state.

The Pakatan Harapan chief is welcomed by loud cheers and chants of “reformasi” as he arrives at the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani grand finale venue.

Aside from delivering a speech, Anwar will also be giving a special keynote address.

DPM with 47 charges - ‘reformasi is dead’

11pm: Hulu Kelang, Selangor - Bersatu lawmaker Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal declares that “reformasi is dead”.

“How can reformasi be alive when the person next to the prime minister has 47 corruption charges?” he asks during Perikatan Nasional’s grand finale ceramah in Taman Melawati.

The Machang MP is referring to Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the Umno president.

Wan Fayhsal tells the audience that PN will win Selangor tomorrow with shouts of “takbir” (proclaim the greatness of Allah) instead of “reformasi”.

Crowd chants ‘reformasi’ as Anwar leaves

10.45pm: Gurun, Kedah - Anwar leaves after a 15-minute speech at tonight’s ceramah, to head to his final event in Sungai Petani.

The crowd chant “reformasi” upon the premier’s exit.

Some of the attendees also look over the compound gates to watch as Anwar’s convoy leaves the area.

Earlier, the Harapan supporters boo-ed some Perikatan Nasional vehicles that drove past the ceramah venue.

Some of the people in these vehicles, which displayed many PAS and PN flags, instigated the interactions.

‘Give sincere Muda a chance’

10.40pm: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - Muda’s deputy election director Ainie Haziqah Shafiee pleads with voters to give the party a chance at the Muda Ceramah Mega Finale in Bukit Gasing.

Addressing the now-expanded crowd of around 300, up from the initial 100, she emphasises that Muda's approach isn't about fighting with money, but rather with "sincerity".

“We don’t pay our supporters. We are working tirelessly for the people and for the future of the country’s politics.

“So please, as polling day rolls around by midnight, give Muda a chance,” Ainie says.

PN supporters carrying party flags rev up

10.35pm: Sidam, Kedah - A group of PN supporters are spotted parading around a petrol station located a five-minute drive away from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Jelajah Perpaduan Madani grand finale venue at Padang Eupe.

The group, which consists of youths, are seen hoisting PN and PAS flags while riding their motorcycles and bicycles.

Also spotted on the roads in Sidam are cars and trucks with PN and PAS flags, with their drivers honking occasionally at passers-by.

Aside from delivering a speech to wrap up Pakatan Harapan-BN’s campaigning efforts in the state, Anwar will also be giving a special keynote address.

Anwar arrives for 3rd event

10.30pm: Gurun, Kedah - Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrives for his third event of the night and briskly walks in.

Despite Anwar walking straight up to the stage, the drum performers decide to play their instruments which was initially planned for the prime minister’s entrance.

Anwar gets on stage and apologises to the crowd, explaining that he’s running late in his schedule.

He also tells some attendees in the front of the stage to sit down so as to allow the others to listen to his speech.

More than 3k at PN’s grand finale in Selangor

10.25pm: Hulu Kelang, Selangor - More than 3,000 people attend Perikatan Nasional’s grand finale in Taman Melawati.

Among the speakers is Sungai Tua candidate Hanif Jamaluddin who urges voters to come in droves to cast their ballots tomorrow.

“InsyaAllah (God willing), Selangor becomes ours tomorrow,” he adds.

Also present are Selangor PN chief and Hulu Kelang candidate Azmin Ali, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and Arau MP Shahidan Kassim.

Terengganu declares Sunday holiday

10pm: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - The caretaker Terengganu government declares Sunday (Aug 13) as an occasional holiday in conjunction with the state election tomorrow.

Caretaker menteri besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar says this is to facilitate outside voters working in the state to return after voting in their respective hometowns in Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang.

“This holiday also takes into account state government employees who work late to assist the Election Commission on polling day,” Bernama quotes him as saying.

Crowd hyped up with shouts of support

9.55pm: Jelutong, Penang - BN secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir leads people to shout "Pakatan Harapan" dan "BN" at the Ceramah Mega Perpaduan with the crowd giving an encouraging response.

He also mentions the meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi which was held earlier, in which they discussed bringing investment into Malaysia and how this showed that Wang Yi has trust in the government.

Police to increase security at EC headquarters

9.50pm: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - Police will increase security at the Election Commission headquarters in Putrajaya tomorrow to prevent any untoward incidents.

“Monitoring will take place throughout the voting process until the announcement of the results to prevent gatherings or marches,” says Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

Apart from this, police will also set up roadblocks in specific areas to thwart potential marches and threats to security.

Shuhaily also advises political parties not to hold victory celebrations in public places.

‘PN tumbang’ echoes throughout Jelutong

9.30pm: Jelutong, Penang - The crowd for the Pakatan Harapan-BN ceramah at Karpal Singh Drive has swelled up to about 1,500 from around 700 earlier.

BN secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir and DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng are among the leaders who join the merriment.

Lim, in his speech, criticises Perikatan Nasional for failing to manage the economy when they were in power, to the cheer of the crowd who chant “PN tumbang!”

Gurun folk eagerly wait for Anwar

9.20pm: Gurun, Kedah - Some 500 people eagerly wait for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to arrive for a Pakatan Harapan ceramah here tonight.

In the meantime, they are entertained by some silat performances.

Earlier, Harapan’s Gurun candidate Firdaus Johari arrived and greeted the folks. Firdaus is the son of former Gurun assemblyperson Johari Abdul, who vacated the seat when he was made Dewan Rakyat speaker.

Firdaus is going against Perikatan Nasional’s Baddrol Bakhtiar in a two-cornered fight for the seat.

Keep eyes open, Zahid tells cops, EC and MACC

8.40pm: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has asked MACC, police, and Election Commission to monitor the activities of “sedekah politik” (cash handouts to voters in the run-up of elections) ahead of tomorrow's polling day.

Based on the 15th general election, he says it is not impossible that a coalition of political parties will use the same approach, especially in the final moments of the state elections campaign period.

“Cash handouts to voters is a corrupt practice and is prohibited according to the Election Commission Act... (based on) experience in GE15.

"We hope these three agencies (MACC, EC, and police) can monitor through their approach so that such activity is not made at the last minute,” Bernama quotes him as saying.

Eclectic mix of supporters at Muda’s grand finale ceramah

8.35pm: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - Some 100 people fill the seats of Muda’s ‘Ceramah Mega Finale’ at Bukit Gasing tonight.

Just off the side, supporters can also undergo a complimentary medical checkup, including for blood pressure and sugar level, from a volunteer doctor.

Anticipation lingers as everyone awaits the arrival of Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

Contrary to the party’s name, the crowd is an eclectic mix, with half being senior citizens who cheer for the candidates as they take turns delivering their speeches.

Kit Siang hopes for high voter turnout in Penang

8:30pm: Jelutong, Penang - DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang hopes that Penang's voter turnout rate can reach 85 percent.

"We don't want Penang to become Kelantan, but we want Kelantan to become Penang,” he says at the Mega Perpaduan ceramah at Karpal Singh Drive.

He also urges the public in all the other five states to come out to vote for the Pakatan Harapan-BN coalition so their states can progress like Penang.

State DAP secretary Lim Hui Ying also hopes for a high voter turnout in Penang.

She says if the voter turnout is less than 60 percent, it will be a disadvantage for them.

I predict 33-3 win for PN in Kedah - Sanusi

8.20pm: Merbau Pulas, Kedah - Just hours before the campaign ends, Kedah caretaker menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor expresses confidence that Perikatan Nasional will win at least 33 seats in the state.

He says his confidence is based on the support shown towards PN throughout the campaign period.

“I predict a 33-3 win for PN in Kedah,” he tells the press after his grand finale “Sembang Santai” event at Padang Awam Tunku Putra, Kelang Lama.

Big crowd at Harapan-BN mega ceramah in Jelutong

8.15pm: Jelutong, Penang - There are about 700 people gathering at Karpal Singh Drive to attend the Pakatan Harapan-BN ‘Mega Perpaduan’ ceramah.

The seats are almost full, prompting the staff to arrange more chairs.

DAP also sets up a merchandise booth at the venue.

‘Kedah govt approved Indonesian tycoon’s REE application 2 months ago’

8.10pm: Merbau Pulas, Kedah - Caretaker Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor reveals that the state government had approved the license application by an Indonesian tycoon to mine rare earth elements (REE) in the state two months ago.

Speaking to reporters after the grand finale of his “Sembang Santai” session, Sanusi says he doesn’t hold any grudges but only made the expose, which linked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to the Indonesian oil tycoon because he was “attacked”.

“If the application is proper, we will give approval. I know that the company was brought in by Anwar and we approved it.

“I didn’t say that it’s wrong for them to make the application. But when they make it seem as though others who come in to apply are bad people, they can’t do that.

“Do your business properly, compete fairly. Whoever has the expertise, efforts and capital, can come and apply and we will approve,” he says.

Sanusi takes jabs at 'Kim Jong Non'

8pm: Merbau Pulas, Kedah - Kedah Perikatan Nasional chief Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor takes a jab at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, whom he referred to as "Kim Jong Non".

Speaking at a PN ceramah, Sanusi alleges that government media, namely RTM, are not allowed to feature him in news save to attack him.

He says the only countries that strive to block information from the people are communists.

"Which is why they call him Kim Jong Non," he says, making portmanteau on North Korean leader Kim Jong Nam and Anwar’s nickname "Bang Non".

"We can't allow the use of government machinery for campaigning," he adds, in reference to Anwar using a government helicopter on his campaign blitz.

Karpal Singh Drive abuzz with Harapan-BN mega ceramah

7.50pm: Jelutong, Penang - Pakatan Harapan and BN are holding a Mega Perpaduan ceramah tonight at Karpal Singh Drive.

Leaders such as Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying, former human resources minister M Kulasegaran, Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid, and several candidates have already arrived at the venue, which seats about 700.

Syerleena even entertains the crowd by performing with a band.

Chow confident Harapan-BN will win big in Penang

7:40pm: Georgetown, Penang - Caretaker Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow expresses confidence that Pakatan Harapan and BN will win at least 30 out of 40 seats being contested in the state.

However, according to a Bernama report, this is contingent on several factors.

"To be frank, to meet this target, several factors must also come into play. First, a high voter turnout.

“The next is for supporters from both Harapan and BN to vote for each other’s candidates to ensure victories for the two parties," he reportedly tells reporters after joining a meeting between Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and China Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

He also believes DAP supporters will see the bigger picture of ensuring the coalition will retain power in Penang, rather than being swayed by former deputy chief minister II P Ramasamy's exit from the party.

Bersih: Promising public holiday akin to bribery

7pm: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - Electoral reform group Bersih criticises caretaker Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari's vow to make this coming Monday a public holiday if the Pakatan Harapan-BN front wins the state polls.

In a statement, Bersih chairperson Thomas Fann says the promise is akin to bribery and calls the MACC to look into the matter.

"Bersih is of the view that it exceeded his power as the caretaker menteri besar to make such an announcement to try and influence voters on the eve of polling day.

"It is akin to bribery as this was not part of his announced election manifesto and MACC should look into this.

"It is also irresponsible and unfair to businesses in Selangor to make plans at the last minute, after the results are known probably early Sunday morning, to either keep their business open or close the next day," he says.

Muda's Seri Setia candidate vows to serve even if unelected

7pm: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - Muda's Seri Setia candidate Dobby Chew thanks constituents he met on the campaign trail.

He vows to fulfil his manifesto promises, including providing legal aid to those in need, even if he is not elected tomorrow.

"If I am not given the chance to serve this time, it's alright. Maybe it is not time yet and it is a sign for me to work harder for the folks of Seri Setia.

"Win or lose, my promise is to always be with Seri Setia - with Pak Mazlan whom I met in Lembah Sembang, Auntie K in TTDI Jaya and Mr Hendra in Taman Mesra.

"Meeting them made me realise that they all just want the best for Seri Setia," he says on Twitter.

Thousands cheer as Sanusi arrives for PN’s Kedah finale

6.35pm: Merbau Pulas, Kedah - Caretaker Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor arrives at the grand finale of his “Sembang Santai” session at Padang Awam Tunku Putra, Kelang Lama.

The Perikatan Nasional election director, decked in a PN shirt and black trousers, is welcomed by cheers and chants of “Sanusi” from the crowd.

PN supporters present at the field have grown to an estimated crowd of over 3,000.

Sanusi is now addressing the crowd from all walks of life.

Over 2k PN supporters await Sanusi’s grand finale ceramah

5.45pm: Merbau Pulas, Kedah - An estimated crowd of over 2,000 Perikatan Nasional supporters await Kedah caretaker menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s arrival at a “Sembang Santai” session held at Padang Awam Tunku Putra, Kelang Lama.

This session is the grand finale of Sanusi’s “Sembang Santai” series as part of his campaign trail across the state.

The majority of the supporters, decked in colours synonymous with PN and PAS, flood the field while hoisting party and coalition flags.

PN candidates contesting in Lunas and Merbau Pulas - Khairul Anuar Ramli and Siti Ashah Ghazali - are scheduled to deliver their speeches at this event.

PM to voters: Choose wisely for peace and stability

5.35pm: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim hopes that voters, especially first-timers, will choose wisely for the peace and stability of the country.

“I believe (the voters) will choose wisely for the sake of the country’s peace and stability and a government that can restore the economy, guarantee job opportunities for them, and more importantly, provide a comfortable life for themselves and their beloved families.

“Take this responsibility seriously to ensure the country’s development and the harmony and peace of the country,” he says in a video of his address posted on his Facebook.

Anwar arrives in Kedah, celebrates birthday 

5.30pm: Pedu, Kedah - Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim celebrates his birthday with a sea of 1,500 BN supporters here in Kedah.

The Pakatan Harapan chairperson’s birthday was yesterday. He turned 76 years old.

The pulut kuning presented by the organisers, however, spelled his name as “Anuar” instead of “Anwar”.

Earlier, Anwar’s helicopter landed at a nearby school and he walked into the event for the Madani Grand Finale today.

EC expects 85pct voter turnout

5.25pm: The Election Commission (EC) is expecting the voter turnout for the six state elections to exceed 85 percent. This also included the parliamentary by-election in Kuala Terengganu.

EC chairperson Abdul Ghani Salleh says this will exceed the turnout for last November’s general election, which was 74.7 percent.

Urging voters to fulfil their responsibility, he says there is no need to rush to the polling centres early in the morning, as they are open from 8am to 6pm, to avoid congestion.

“We (EC), together with the security team, are prepared to deal with any problems. Hence, don’t worry and go out to vote as usual,” he was quoted as saying by The Star.

BN could capture K’tan with outstation voters’ help - Ahmad Maslan

5.06pm: Putrajaya - The coalition government can capture Kelantan only if out-of-state voters cast their ballots wisely with betterment in mind in tomorrow’s state election, Umno supreme council member Ahmad Maslan said.

“I hope they (outstation voters) will think a few times when casting their votes. Don’t just stay back in the Klang Valley and leave all the burdens and problems with their families back home.

“In past elections, those who did not want to change in Kelantan are those residing in other states, while those in Kelantan wanted to change,” Utusan Malaysia quoted him saying in Putrajaya.

“I admit it’s hard to read the thinking patterns of out-of-state voters because when they are in the Klang Valley, it would seem like they support the coalition (federal) government but change their minds when they go back to Kelantan,” he added.

He urged out-of-state voters to give Pakatan Harapan-BN a chance to fix issues concerning hardcore poverty, clean water supply, and youth unemployment plaguing Kelantan.

T’ganu PAS warns of eleventh-hour ‘ambush’

4.35pm: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - Terengganu PAS claims to have information that its “desperate” rivals will launch an “ambush” starting this evening until midnight.

According to Terengganu PAS deputy commissioner Alias Razak, slander and fake news will be spread through various platforms.

“I urge the public not to be influenced and to stop circulating (such information),” he was quoted as saying by Harakah Online.

PRM candidate bemoans ‘unfair’ election rules

4.20pm: Pantai Jerejak, Bayan Baru - Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) candidate for Pantai Jerejak, Ravinder Singh, complains about an “unfair” election rule which prohibits him from putting up any electoral materials near two polling centres.

The two schools in question, SRJK (C) Shih Chung Cawangan and SJKC Kwang Hwa, are located in the Batu Uban constituency even though they are polling centres for Pantai Jerejak.

Even though candidates are allowed to put up their campaigning materials beyond the 50m perimeter of the voting centre, Ravinder says he is not allowed to do so for those two schools because the area is under Batu Uban.

“So, Pantai Jerejak voters going to vote there will not see any PRM flags or posters close to the voting centre area, but they can see the posters and flags of the parties that are contesting both in Batu Uban and Pantai Jerejak.

Injured Kit Siang soldiers on for ‘better Malaysia’

4pm: Penang - DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, 82, says he has been campaigning while injured in the past two weeks because he wants a better Malaysia.

“I fell in my house before nomination day of the six states on July 29.

“I am not a candidate but I am limping in over 30 constituencies in Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Kedah in two weeks… because I want Malaysia to rise up again to succeed as a great world-class nation during Malaysia’s Centennial in 2057,” he says in a statement.

Umno Youth wants apology from abrasive DAP member

2.10pm: Petaling Jaya, Selangor - Umno Youth chief Akmal Saleh wants an apology from DAP member, Lee Khai Ming, whose abrasive, expletive-laden speech in June, has now gone viral.

Otherwise, Umno Youth will "take action", he says.

"The words he said were uncouth (kurang ajar).

"(DAP secretary-general Anthony) Loke must find this guy and make him apologise (to Umno), or Umno Youth will take action," he says, adding that a police report will be lodged against Lee.

Earlier, Loke criticised the speech and said DAP has suspended Lee from the party.

Put a full stop to traitors - Zahid

12pm: Tanjong Karang, Selangor - Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urges Selangor voters to drive out traitors and reclaim Tanjong Karang and Hulu Kelang seats.

"Put a full stop to them in Selangor, including those traitors."

"Traitors are not only present in Hulu Kelang, but there were also many traitors in Tanjong Karang," the Umno president says while attending an event there.

This is the first time Zahid set foot here since the state election campaign started. He urges voters to support BN’s Sungai Burong candidate Mohamad Khir Ramli and PKR’s Permatang candidate Mohd Yahya Mat Sahri.

Former Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar has been campaigning for PN and criticised Zahid for cooperating with Harapan.

Polling day: Rain expected in Penang, N Sembilan, S’gor and Kedah

12.08PM: Kuala Lumpur - Rain is forecast in one or two places in Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor in the morning of polling day for the six-state polls and the Kuala Terengganu by-election tomorrow, while thunderstorms are predicted in the evening.

Bernama reported the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), as stated on its website, many coastal areas of Kedah are also expected to experience the same weather conditions, while Terengganu is predicted to have cloudy skies, and good weather is forecast in Kelantan.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon, MetMalaysia says that thunderstorms are expected to occur in one or two places in Penang, Selangor, and Kedah; the interior of Negeri Sembilan as well as several places in Kelantan and Terengganu.

The temperature tomorrow is expected to be around 23 to 34 degrees Celsius.

Harapan-BN will 'win big' in Negeri Sembilan - Rafizi

10.40am: Ampangan, Negeri Sembilan - PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli predicts that the Pakatan Harapan-BN combo will win more than 30 seats in Negeri Sembilan in tomorrow’s polls, with Perikatan Nasional (PN) getting just four seats.

"In Negeri Sembilan, God willing, Harapan-BN will not only win and form the state government, but we will win big.

"As of yesterday evening, 55 percent of Malay voters we surveyed through phone calls said they will vote for Harapan-BN, while 40 percent said they would vote for PN.

“The remaining five percent are still undecided," Berita Harian quotes the Pandan MP as telling during a ceramah in Ampangan last night.

According to him further, the level of support by the Chinese and Indians toward the Harapan-BN combo surpasses 90 percent in Negeri Sembilan.

Wan Saiful chides rivals for provocative banners

9am: Kajang, Selangor - Fake Perikatan Nasional banners are appearing around the Bangi parliamentary constituency area.

One banner suggested that voting for PN was a ticket to heaven while another said that non-Malays were only "passengers" in Malaysia.

Bersatu supreme council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan, who is also the Bangi Bersatu division chief, said these provocative banners were removed by his team.

"I hope the public can evaluate how our rivals are desperate and are trying to tarnish PN.

"They are willing to use racism to split the people. They should be rejected," said Wan Saiful.

Police receive over 1.5k election offences reports

8am: Kuala Lumpur - The police have received 1,524 police reports alleging various election offences, Bernama quotes Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain as saying yesterday.

This is for the period from nomination day (July 29) up to Aug 9.

Most of these are reported in Selangor (629 reports), followed by Terengganu (289), Kedah (249), Kelantan (213), Negeri Sembilan (111) and Penang (33). For these, he says 103 investigation papers have been opened.

In addition, 13 investigations have been launched involving slander and offensive slurs or statements on social media, he adds.
