New Straits Times reported Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail explaining the sudden change in the prosecution team in the Altantuya murder trial. He said the change was to ensure a fair, elaborating further. The daily also had a special pullout in conjunction with the World Environment Day today.

The Star also frontpaged the murder trial, highlighting the news that Altantuya's family had filed a RM100 million civil suit against the three defendants and the Malaysian government.

The Sun also ran with a story on the murder trial, reporting Deputy Public Prosecutor Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah's statement to the court that he only received instructions to take over the case late Sunday night.

Malay Newspapers

The Altantuya murder case again was the lead news in the Malay dailies.

Berita Harian led with Tun Abdul Majid's request for a postponement while Utusan Malaysia reported the change in the prosecution team for the high-profile case.

Chinese Newspapers

A similar theme appeared in the Chinese newspapers as well.

Nanyang Siang Pau headlined with the RM100 million suit filed by Altantuya's family against the three accused and the government.

The front page of Oriental Daily News reported how the change in the prosecution team created a new variable factor in the case while Sin Chew Daily reported on the sudden change to the prosecution team.

Tamil Newspapers

All three Tamil dailies - Tamil Nesan, Malaysia Nanban and Makkal Osai - too reported on the postponement of the Antantuya case.

Editorial

New Straits Times commented on the need for environmental preservation.

The Sun suggested that national carmaker Proton offer something substantial, such as the control of manufacturing and development operations, in return for technology to gain a foreign partner.

Most of the newspapers reported the death of former Alleycats' member Loganathan Arumugam due to lung cancer. He was diagnosed with the disease eight months ago.
