New Straits Times frontpaged Malaysia's criticism towards US for including Malaysia on a list of human trafficking offenders. Furthermore, the report singled out the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development for not doing enough to help the victims of human trafficking

The Star reported that travelers will now be able to get tour fare protection under a new insurance scheme endorsed by the Tourism Ministry. The affordable insurance will be at RM15 per traveler. This new scheme is meant to instill confidence in travelers again due to the previous bust up of Excellence Holidays which cost travelers a total of RM 2.4 million.

Berita Harian reported that the Cabinet has approved an extra RM100 million to implement all types of additional flood alleviation projects for the capital to avoid bad floods such as the one that occurred last Sunday.

The daily also highlighted that there will be an extra allocation to introduce ferries and water taxis to cross the Tebrau Strait. This will be one of the initiatives that will be discussed at the Joint Committee of Malaysia-Singapore Ministerial Level on the Iskandar Development Region.

Chinese Newspapers

Sin Chew Daily reported on a gang-rape case involving a couple who stopped at a petrol station along the Pasir Gudang highway at 10.30pm last week. They were allegedly robbed, the driver beaten up and his girlfriend was gang raped. The driver was furious as the police had not believed the rape claims on the grounds that the victim looked 'calm'.

Oriental Daily led with a report by the United States which blacklisted Malaysia for its high rate of human trafficking cases.

Nanyang Siang Pau headlined that Matta has proposed to provide medical and financial insurance for tourists, taking effect from June 19.
